First, the warning: I am not a professional when it comes to reviews and not a professional in the Dragon Quest. I am hobby players and Amazon customer and I write for other amateur players and potential Dragon Quest buyers. So if you expect an intense gameplay meeting at this Rezi wrong. I want to convey here only if the game is fun or not and whether it is worth its money or not.
After I had the last Zelda adventure on the DS by I've been searching for a suitable replacement. In Dragon Quest IX I found it :) It's my first game in the Dragon Quest series and I must say that one can not necessarily have played the other parts to get quickly into the game. For testing, I only got the game without booklet (do not worry, there will be a booklet, but the trial none had) so I started without knowing much to play. From the beginning, I was amazed by the graphics! Beautifully colorful and manga way ... my new character has missed getting equal time purple hair. Nice to have you his Char can customize anyway you want ... you will not be forced to play with the idea of another. The later companions can make yourself (or which take off the shelf). The lack of the booklet has not been particularly noticeable ... who often plays computer games or DS games can already imagine what lies behind a mage, warrior or priest ... only the bard and the warrior monk was new territory for me. I've already played a few hours and am still not near the finish, which is quite pleased me, because I have more in the game.
Now to the story ... Take the Japanese mentality (courtesy, bowing), a few pieces of the Christian faith (Almighty, angels) and some Nordic Gods Saga (Yggdrasil) and mixes it well ... comes out :) The Dragon Quest Quests are not too heavy, you earned on killing the imaginative enemies quickly enough gold and points to the next Level and thus may soon buy better equipment. It is nice that not everyone can use any weapon or Char each garment.
One can find a lot of useful things in boxes! Oh ... I love boxes! Every game in which you can find Explore undSchätze speaks to me, but here I am in the sky box !! Frustrated, I will if I can not open some boxes ... but I'm still a way to open, see (spoiler: A Rogue's no 'so it is not absolutely necessary in the group). In the boxes there are even pieces of equipment, however, are almost always worse than the level that you have (or I have bad luck) ... mostly are things to Alchemisieren (herbs, stones, ores, etc ...) in it. By Alchemisieren can be produced equipment and weapons themselves ... Unfortunately, you have the object already been made in order to know what you even doing there. Even for some side quests you have to produce things. A little tip: If you do not penetrate Gold needs, everything picks up 'old / found weapons, garments and armor' I had to buy some again after I alchemy recipes found who needed just this helmet or these subjects' comes the one with the time very expensive.
Let's talk about the (for me) less great sites that I have found in the game. One is the place Labskausen ... OK the place is a fishing village and is located on the coast, but why must the residents because talk Platt? I come from southern Germany and have indeed understood everything, but I found it very inappropriate and tiring to read ... it did not fit into the game! I ask myself all the time, when it comes to the mountains to persuade the residents of another village deepest Bavarian ... to me this is too cliché and I want in a game like schnacken neither babble nor read other Dialectical accidents. Well ... Labskausen I now behind me and explore new areas already!
What has extremely disturbed me is that you do not see among the opponents, how much life they have. One can not assess whether the VLT Boss thus. still should defer. That cost me a lot of gold (50% of the entrained gold per death!). You fight and fight and then the opponent is either dead or eventually (usually) one. I would like to than to estimate how long the fight might last and whether I have a chance. Meanwhile I put my gold every time on the bench, which is cumbersome, because the dealers in the places do not take credit cards, and so I need to withdraw the money and then travel to the dealer to buy my stuff always personally in the single branch in the game.
Despite the 2 swabs I would recommend this game highly! To me at least it's fun and I take the DS like in between in the hand to continue playing.
Addendum: So now I have played about 60 hours and still have several treasure maps (extra dungeons =) ... open the final boss (if he is it) I once tested and have failed miserably. I currently Take pleasure with the side quests and treasure cards and collect things diligently to Alchemisieren. What can I say ... I'm still having fun and I'm determined more than 100 hours of play time before I venture back to the final boss in the eye to see. I dawdle certainly not, but I want to see everything and am a notorious Questvervollständiger :) It's still a lot of fun! Since I had related games I already after 2 days by itself had ... Zelda has not stopped so long with me! There are a few games that still make mood after so much time invested and Dragon Quest IX is one with me in the list. Just buy it !!!
