Unlike other reviews I did not find this ironic book and have not read the smile. Although not yet 30 years old, I found yet in this character who describes himself as someone so "crowded with oneself, that by negligence and ease we no longer know where to live his life. " This man seems neither happy nor unhappy. He does not control his destiny and leaves his life away from him. The construction of the novel (by presidential mandate) reminds us the importance of living and interacting with our present society, whatever our age. To not end up like Paul Blick, I now understand the difficulty but also the importance to register in this and write my adult life. Thank you, Mr Dubois, for this revelation!
