Ben E. King's 87iger studio - album was interesting for me only through the collaboration of Mick Jones! In this case, the bandleader of Foreigner as a producer of the title "Save The Last Dance For Me" and "Halfway To Paradise" is responsible. "Save The Last Dance For Me" also opened the same album and sounds refreshingly brisk and dedusted ;-) The addition of the exception - guitarist Mark Knopfler is a positive development, but he relaxes with his well-known style of play the recordings clearly on! Through the experience gained in the Mick Jones at the 60 Johnny Hallyday, Ben E. King still sounds very authentic and not so according revamped and placed the 80 plastic - Pop! The course changes with "Because Of Last Night". Here an attempt is still to save the 60's flair, but by the cold Drum - is destroyed sequences. The "Lover's Question" produced by Lamont Dozier wummerd with a vengeance the Master of Souls into the year 1987. E - Drums and Synthesizer rumbling bass and are the only positive moment of the "very modern" trimmed King! "Whatever This Is" on the other hand falls totally. One bright spot for the album has "Halfway To Paradise". Mick Jones produced in turn by Mark Knopfler on the strings a very nice soulful relaxed ballad! The absolute highlight of the album !!! Whether "Let A Man Do It For Ya", "I Cry For You" or "Test Of Time" disappoint compositionally and musically in their terrible plastic - Pop robe. The last track "Two Lovers" is grooving then again relaxed and compensated a bit. The very lean production in the form of drums, bass and rhythm guitar quieter perfectly matches the alternen 60s Star ;-) Conclusion: mixed Sonically very clean and structured. The modern 80's music - corset does not fit the former Soul Master and has only occasionally delightful moments, but then convince! Not enough for a comeback album ...
