Software installation under Windows 7/64 bit worked fine. The Windows 7 version is held by updates to date. The Hauppauge WinTV software version is V7.0.31135 / CD2.8.
There is obviously already an update for it.
After tuning, most stations were displayed several times, which should be that are in my location (district of Diepholz in Lower Saxony) multiple transmitters in (further) range, for example, Bremen (about 40km away), Steinkimmen (about 50km) and Hannover (nearly 70km) - which are already the near future. The reception of most programs is impeccable with the supplied rod antennas; for some others, I use an external antenna with amplifier. The reception is almost never made, and only in some difficult to be received programs.
Interestingly, the supplied rod antennas are very short (about 20cm plus feet) and rich but made for good reception. Connection with small coaxial connectors (gold plated), the snap and apparently are of good workmanship. Connecting other antennas using an adapter.
Full else I had experienced with another product from another manufacturer (Cinergy Stick mini): only part of the programs was therefore receivable, and only with amplified antenna, even so not always or not without problems (dropouts, stopping the image).
Devices such as DVB-T boxes for connection to normal TV fail here in our house quite often. The antenna stood in all cases on the 1st floor (the height of the antenna above the ground is for receiving over long distances relevant).
The Hauppauge Nova TD USB stick, however offers considerably better reception than any other I tried out devices - most likely due to the combined operation of both receivers. In some cases, I've tried to pull one of the two antennas: the reception then set out sometimes - apparently both receivers were then necessary. The "Picture in Picture" it does not always: I suspect, the software has also enabled the combination of both receivers to improve reception so that the second receiver is then not available separately.
However, the reception is with me not entirely free of ghosting, which already surprised me because the transmission is done digitally and occurring in analog TV multipath reception as the cause of ghosting really should retire here. Can at the receiving position due to my location.
The software runs smoothly. It also offers a program guide, the partially indicative of the just being broadcast and the next day. Recordings of broadcasts are also possible without any problems. I also have no crashes or hanger experienced, unlike previously been put to me products.
As an improvement of the software it would be nice to be able to change the duration of planned recordings later, even if the recording is in progress already. If you select the program guide to select "Record", the scheduled times to be entered in the record list. Often the broadcasts start but then a few minutes later ...
Also you can see the signal strength not be displayed - but that would be helpful in aligning the antennas.
The USB flash drive is a little clunky, which can lead to USB ports to hustle. A short USB extension cable is included but.
Not yet I have tried the supplied remote control, as I sit in front of the computer anyway mostly.
Something thin is the manual - more a flyer, which provides support for commissioning. The main features are described; the interface of the software, however, has a few additional elements, which are not described. So the OSD Button: apparently stands for "On-Screen Display" - display of information about the program. The T-Button gave up more puzzles: it switches between the TV picture and teletext to - because if teletext is at the transmitter.
Overall I am very satisfied with this product - full marks. 5 Stars.
