Caution Spoiler in this Rezi
I'll start at the very beginning, in Dragon Age: Origins. I love RPG's and DA: O how rare a game tied me to the computer, one of the best RPG`s ever!
Then came to significantly lower development time DA2 and this saw the game also significantly ... z. B. Level recycling, vagueness, it could not really convince.
Now BioWare had promised to have learned from the mistakes and the end of 2014 appeared finally here: I. First of all: Yes, they have learned. And they have looked, looked what might please the many RPG'lern or future RPG'lern ... Skyrim seemed to have indeed fallen ...
No, because: I is not a new Skyrim, the areas are massive, but a real freedom as in Bethesda's TES series no sets in. Generally speaking, however, that the game through various simplifications (everything is marked on the map, skill points can no longer be distributed, the really unnecessary loot system) ingratiate the mainstream and no large rough edges showing.
And yet there is: I become an epic game, the cutscenes of the main quest and some sidequests are staged class and must not hide from various theater productions. The discovery of the firmament at the beginning is ... absolutely epic!
In many ways, DA: I also have a mixture of the two predecessors, the combat system can be observed well the. Numerous skills are great animated. Of particular interest, however, the focus attacks. Also were many, with integrated really many of the known characters. Some skillfully such. B. Hawke and Morrigan other rather less like Flemeth. On new characters not many can convince Solas, Sera and Iron Bull include z. B. the few. Managing small missions at the chart table is initially quite entertaining, but loses in the course of the game to appeal.
Typical of a BioWare game are of course the interaction with his companions and outstanding, elaborate dialogues and serious decisions. This can also be in DA: I find, however, rarely on this scale. In my memory, the interactions with the attendants in DA were: O spontaneous and exciting. The antagonist and his motives were good brought to bear, for me, however, he had enough presence in the course of the story. Generally there is much potential in the main story, but is used only in part. In some places, an important decision is due, which only at first sight is important.
Technically DA: I top, the most diverse areas, despite their size, all expertly designed and full of details, a big selling point of the game. Exploring the area is a lot of fun. Larger bugs are not noticed, sometimes gewonne EP were not displayed or the sound was missing for few seconds after zoning. The official soundtrack is very good, even if he remembers the beginning of a particular song from the Lord of the Rings. Even otherwise, the soundtrack fits well in a game.
Another highlight of the game are the fight against the spread over the entire map 10 dragons. Impressive giant lizards are considered, the fight against it is even more so. However, even the first in the back lands is a worthy opponent who Hochlandwüter in Emprise Du Lion contrast incomparably more powerful. Sweaty hands on the controller are not shameful;)
The level of difficulty depends to a large extent by the visited areas, but an experienced RPG'ler always selects a high degree of difficulty ... to despair already in the back land it. No, too easy is DA: I did not become.
What is of course also includes a RPG collecting ingredients, metals and trace rare weapons. The crafting system in DA: I is quite complex, you can make weapons and armor from tens of different materials, enchanted by Rune and these continue to strengthen with tens handles and arm protectors. On the one hand one can thus build its own individual equipment, on the other a significant appreciation of the skills is just as possible, which I do not like.
I pull my arms out and discard my gun, I'm almost as weak as at the beginning of the adventure. The Sulevin Sword (very nice to look at the way) increases Strength by astronomical 42 points.
The final battle turns out like the previous course of the game, it is epic, bombastic and yet ... to around when I was angry, I would even inconsequential insert the word somewhere shortly. One would there can get more out. They gathered in the course of the game a lot of supporters in the Inquisition and secures the support of several large groups. Nevertheless, one denies the past struggle with 3 of his companions.
To come now to the end, DA: I combined the two predecessors, notwithstanding the approach the class of Erstwerks to come. More courage on the part of the developers would have done the game.
And when I start the second round ... I'll think about whether the good Solas in my group is again ??!
