MY OPINION
PURCHASE NECESSARY?
I am a cautious Internet surfers and get logged on pages that have to do with finances (banking and shopping), only about my work notebook. Against my desk computer acts as a surfing / gaming machine, which I have here also enough experience to avoid the crudest threats.
So far I am therefore also fared well and plug-ins such as banners defense, WOT and Avira Free have been found to be enough (on both computers).
Why am I so switched to the commercial software?
Well it's no secret that the free programs are heavily slimmed. No browser protection, no useful tools, no software firewall, no email protection, etc ... These are not particularly relevant points that my personal purchase warrant (prudent users), but I've risked anyway. The reason: Mainly because of the increased sense of security - I'm here at nothing. But not only. Furthermore, I am delighted by the endless flood of settings for individual protection - for more advanced users - do not offer me a free program.
Careless and Unsuspecting should establish a comprehensive anti-virus software for their sake - this may have some experience in the narrow family circle.
Kaspersky?
I ultimately decided on Kaspersky, because the software in testing always plays along at the top (at least top 3), the price is more than fine and the relevant test criteria (viruses / trojans etc. Detection) convinced.
PERFORMANCE
To reduce performance of the computer I can give from my side clear. All programs open like with Avira Free and surfing is with me as not impaired as described by some. But beware: The setting "(already known) block dangerous websites" forces the browser performance so in the knee (why?), That I was initially strongly frustrated. After a week of testing most of its settings, I have found that it was because of this option (excluding the desktop PC) - turning off of this is to get over from me. A bit disappointing, however, is in my eyes the utilization of the computer in a full investigation. Where AVIRA has allowed me to surf the side, which is at Kaspersky absolute agony - by switching as video / music etc. It was irrelevant whether the files were located on other partitions than just raided Kaspersky. However, the "thorough search" in Kaspersky is extensive lot. The boot process takes unlike Avira Free little longer - for me ~ 15 sec Here I assume when I can use the PC and not when the desktop appears for the first time.. Topic Laptop Battery: Putting a check mark, then Kaspersky will suspend planned Dursuchungen (even in idle).
SCOPE / USABILITY
Kaspersky 2012 Home & Mobile is my first commercial antivirus software and have to say that I am absolutely Baff what you must adjust everything. For exact extent simply browse the network (or above). It's just a lot.
The usability is very good for such functions. Beginners may in the well-structured by category (Internet protection / File Protection / Firewall / ...) split menus, with the help of sliders (weak / medium / high / very high ...) to make changes. Intermediate and advanced can manipulate by clicking on a button, the sub-options of categories. Cryptic options can be viewed in the PDF manual (no printed manual available!).
When the program update / investigate / to warn, can be adjusted. I put my update setting to manual, so I can start the update within a click on the useful (transparent) Desktop Tool. So I've never had a problem playing by a sudden update or similar. And without the use of the gaming function - but also available.
Mobile version (Attention Android users: Only for Android 2.3 !!! From 2.4 no longer officially supported, but some cares are still running, from 4.0 but should be definitively Sense - informed in advance!)
The mobile version has (not highly relevant yet) in addition to the virus protection for smartphones a few genuinely funny tools at a relatively low battery capacity.
Taking this into account one can features such as:
- Hiding private data if you do not want the people can look around you
- Places the smartphone by SMS (+ fixed PW)
- Blocking the smartphone by SMS command
- Delete all contacts, etc via SMS command
- Lock your smartphone should the SIM to be changed by SMS command
use.
And in today's highly recommended:
Creating a blacklist separated by SMS and phone calls. To be no desire of advertising called number? Starting on the blacklist it. That was previously only an annoying call offered.
CONCLUSION:
Comprehensive, easy to operate, 2 licenses for PCs and 2 for smartphones, established program, hammer price for the scope, and so on. Only the mobile version that only runs on now outdated operating system versions tarnishes etwwas the overall picture. From my perspective anyway, a strong buy recommendation, since the price of 2 PC licenses alone is very good.
On tested hardware:
Notebook: Intel i5 460M 2.53GHz, 4GB DDR3, 750Gb HD (a partition), Win7 64bit Home Premium
Desktop: Intel i7 2600K 3.4GHz, 8GB DDR3, 500GB HD (3 partitions), Win7 Professional 64bit
PS: Above I compared only with Kaspersky Avira Free, not with the commercial version of Avira. In fact I can not say anything.
