Sony HX60 vs. Panasonic TZ61 vs. Canon SX700

Sony DSC-HX60 digital camera (Exmor R CMOS sensor, 30x opt. Zoom, 7.5 cm (3 inch) LCD display, NFC, WiFi) (Electronics)

Customer Review

I have thought long and researched which camera I replace my defective Sony HX50V anschaffe (Pop Up is defective, I feared it from the beginning, since the construct appeared to be little to inspire confidence :().
Since my "new" Super Zoomer came eigtl just right, for comparison stood with me thus.:

1. Canon SX700
2. Panasonic TZ61
3. Sony HX60

I will write no novels here, so I stick to a few key points collected. I have all 3 cameras Zuhaus and therefore can very well compare. FYI: I shoot with a Pentax K5 otherwise II-S, for a short break
but I prefer to take such a camera with traveling, because of the compactness. Leading the way: GPS / Wifi (if any) I do not known, since I do not use those features.

1. Canon SX700
(Unfortunately) Bought at the local photo dealer for purchase for a holiday that was the only Canon Available of the above - therefore much choice for the time being quite easy.

Pro:
- Very valent housing, fingerprints can be seen, however, due to the glossy surface
- Extremely quiet zoom (on video recordings inaudible)
- Faster zoom
- Picture quality is quite OK, no / little watercolor effect!
- 5-axis image stabilization works very splendidly!

Cons:
- The audio quality of the video recording is a no-go -> loud noise / -brummen
- The display quality is more than mediocrity, low contrast and colorless
- Battery problem: as well as its predecessor (SX280 HS) has the camera for video recordings a battery problem,
where first 2 strokes were still present, it is after a few seconds of video recording down to red.
Thus, the overall battery life does not correspond to the expectations again :(
- At 30x zoom, the AF is not available with a yawn slowly or not at all focused partly
- The Pop Up affects While qualitative in my HX50, but also not optimal confidence.

CONCLUSION:
Since I also want to film with the compact video because I a) do not own video camera, and the "little" b) very neat videos, even in low light, producing, the Canon falls due to the loud noise out already. On top of the battery problem and the AF problems in the telephoto range.

2. Panasonic TZ61
Priced about 70-80eur expensive than the Canon.

Pro:
- Very good feel, slightly rubberized, lighter than the Canon, feels very valuable!
(One even had the TZ41 in hand, the difference is quite clear on, here Panasonic has nachgebssert!)
- Very good display, high contrast, colorful, fast
- The viewfinder is a welcome feature, in strong sunlight for example. it can be useful
- Perfect functioning Stabilizer when shooting video
- No disturbing background noise in the audio when shooting video
- As quite positive to be regarded battery life
- Zoom pleasantly quiet, not to hear when shooting video
- RAW recording possible, but ..... see Contra
- Built-in flash, which folds out NOT! (Thus reassuring than the rocketing out of flash Canon / Sony)

Cons:
- The picture quality is unfortunately only mediocre level, less detail than the Canon, more noise even at ISO
100, lighter Painterly (really only slightly, but visibly ..), quite blurred JPEGs
- ... Unfortunately the quality of RAW is not exactly a hit - here I understand why the Panasonic already very soft features in the JPEGs
- Price already well settled up for the "Small"

CONCLUSION:
Currently my favorite of the 3, even if the image quality is convincing only to 85%, I find the whole package of TZ61 quite good, even if this comes at a price.

3. Sony HX60
The direct successor to the HX50, optically hardly changed (the trigger button is now silver instead of black, the body has only one fully textured surface. Priced at the moment well 100EUR more expensive than the older HX50 (V).

Pro:
- Good display, very fast, high contrast and colorful
- Video quality is very good indeed
- Faster AF than the HX50, even in the telephoto range
- Revised menu compared to its predecessor, better structured
- Super-functioning image stabilizer, but eeeetwas restless than the TZ61

Con:
- Strong watercolor effects! :(
- Picture quality is better than its predecessor, but for this price is not really acceptable
- The zoom is clearly visible when shooting video, so here also no improvement to its predecessor
- The buttons on the back look cheap / klapprig
- The Pop Up makes still a bad impression

CONCLUSION:
Due to the image quality, the HX60 falls unfortunately out (by the way: the HX50 I would not buy again,
because of the image quality - as I have then invested unfortunately hasty ..)

RESUMMEE:
At the moment, I would keep the TZ61, due to the good overall package. I will, however, still testing the Nikon S9700,
the Review will be amended accordingly!
