The main criticism (Driver) SOFTWARE:
Yes, unfortunately this one reads usually little or nothing in the product descriptions. Described most hardware features. In this device for me a real problem: The driver software is in my opinion far behind the hardware capabilities of the printer:
- You become unstable on my system
- A few days after the very recent installation there were first sporadic "The printer can not be reached" error messages when you print, although the printer "hard-wired" was via a USB cable.
- It lacks important and mE very basic driver / software functions: I lack in particular the setting of individual margins in the Print menu, and above all, a print preview! The latter is for me very important, as I often select special print settings, such as number of pages to print on one side (I am a student and often need to print online scripts) - without the preview I see only after the term if the pressure as desired is ...
The HP Support commented:
In the printer driver does not have this edge-setting possibilities in general. These margin settings that you want to make go, even more in the professional field and are using programs such as "Adobe InDesign" or "Microsoft Publisher" possible. I can not agree unfortunately. Adjust the margin, I think absolutely perfect fundamentally not progressed but for the contrary. A menu display of the side edges is even called, but the HP software can not be modified. It was different with Canon. The same menu, but adjustable
To print preview said the support:
The latest printer drivers have no longer the scope as some older printer drivers. But you can set an alternative printer driver. The driver of the Photosmart C7280 has a print preview, if I'm not mistaken. Well, everyone has to decide for themselves whether that represents a good solution. It seems to be "Product Policy" that there now are only at professional HP printers for company's environment. For me incomprehensible and signs of a bad product Managementes that its target customer does not understand at the basal bodies.
The lack of preview is probably only good for one thing - to print more falsities from, uses more ink ... and the cartridges are empty faster.
In addition, print menu and printer settings menu are not matched (you can adjust the print multiple pages on one example in two. These settings are not synchronized with each other, but add up to ... then sends the pressure is going on, one obtains, if you are not careful, surprising combinations of set values, since lacking a reasonable preview ... point I eg. in the print menu "4 pages to print on a" one and the same mistake again in the "Settings" menu (linked from the Print menu), then I get on a 4x4 pages ...
THE SCANNER - sadly no better!
The scanner also makes no joy: settings like the desired scan resolution Scan menu must always be re-made (are not saved through use) and are strong on minimal functions (contrast and brightness with short Schwieberegler, no advanced scanning features, especially as Here again reduced no preview of the effects of setting made). The scans show a high sharpness and excellent illumination for surface mounted on the flatbed scanner dust particles (this really shine on the scan), but reduced for the overlaid image template. The results are sometimes indistinguishable, more than would be expected at a maximum resolution of 1200 dpi.
The TWAIN interface for scanning does not work on my system. After all, you can scan across the interface "(NET)" or USB.
FACILITY
The device required to utilize the full functionality and the use of derzeigtigen extended warranty as part of a marketing campaign all 3 online registrations only for this printer. The also did not work clean. It's frustrating! For all online registrations and the installation I have invested about 3 hours. That is, the time for questioning in HP customer support forum not yet counted.
From the inserted cartridges snap point was very vague, a cartridge was after she seemed to sit already catapulted by the spring-back pressure from the printer.
That the paper can be loaded only on the below-pressure ejection drawer, also is somewhat unwieldy when you want to bring about a two-sided printing manually.
Printing speed:
This is specified with 16.5 pages per minute in color and 21 pages per minute in b / w.
Time to first page: 13 seconds color, 12 seconds s / w.
That reminds me of the printer but the expected high speed quite slowly occurred, and represent no significant improvement to my old device certificate (which came along with 12 pages in color and 15 pages b / w), I once mitgestoppt.
But I'm not with standard print quality even with draft-quality even remotely close to the specified 16.5 or 21 A4 pages per minute (draft quality may not even annoyingly "Other inkjet papers" as the HP own lt digest. Tteiber software).
(!! Time not counting until the start of the audible printing of page) Stopped values:
1 page black / white, with a (!!!) line of text, standard quality:
11-12 seconds until it was issued = a bit more than 4 pages per minute
1 page A4 color, without images, only text in draft quality:
just under 30 seconds to output, ie about 2 pages per minute!
For this, the HP support again:
The values are recorded with test documents according to ISO / IEC 24734 standard and the middle of the pressure. So not from the first page. For the first page of a print job, the printer needs a short preparation time. [Note: ... as I said: The time until the print start was not counting!] The ISO test pages have a coverage of approximately 11 percent (without borders). [Note: I have only 1 line of text printed in b / w] When black printing, the driver is the option "Use only black ink" set. More information can be found here: [...] / go / inkjet printer. Or directly for information, for detecting the speed: How HP Measures Inkjet Printing Speed .These sites unfortunately are only in English.
Finally, it should be noted on the complaint list, I think it used to, that the printer does not go out after a simple pressure on the on / off button, but initially activates the touch menu.
POSITIVE
- The duplex feed
- The XXL-cartridges and their favorable price-performance ratio
- The print quality is decent, but there restrictions on the type of paper.
- Print via WLAN useful if you have multiple laptops or PCs in the house!
- Printing is not important, but probably very useful for me by cell phone
- Silent Scan
- Touch menu
CONCLUSION
Too bad! So a device to build not happy again and returns it, the game is simply too bulky and heavy. I can unfortunately not connect the good to very good reviews here and can only speculate that the Canon device with which I've printed, me too much "spoils" has to have good to find this one. I would have after more than 6 years in fact technical progress expected for scanning and printing. In this respect, time seems to stand still but the scanning technique is even worse than in the old Canon! The chic, new networking features are nice, but what use is a conveniently accessible printer when the print results do not look as desired? (Presentation: I sit nicely in the living room and prints what, or fall somewhere in the world and prints from the cell phone at home what from Come then to the printer, sometime later, and note that the pressure not as desired looks because it yes. no preview was only now noticed that's very annoying! If even remote printing, but then please at least with preview else I have to sit back next to it, to know what I get!)
As my good old Canon a much nicer driver software with more features and better scanning resolution (and quality) had, this unit is now back first and it will then probably but a new Canon, despite the higher printing costs! In the Hofffnung that you have there not also verschlimmbessert the driver software. All in all: What a pity !!
