The preliminary end of an odyssey! The Yamaha is the replacement for Pioneer BDP 150 K. Unfortunately, I was also the Pioneer quite annoyed after a few weeks, as quite a few other players out of the houses LG, Sony and Samsung before. The build quality of the Pioneer was not bad, the running noise and the infinitely long reaction time, however, quickly brought me to the decision to replace the player by the Yamaha BD-S673.
The Yamaha BD-S673 I selected because I on a totally muffled noise level and a slightly better processing attach importance than in many plastic boxes, which now unfortunately already up in the price range of 250 - are offered.
Also I like the 80s hi-module design very well! But that is subjective and pure matter of taste and therefore irrelevant!
The commissioning and setup of Yamaha were simple. The picture quality is great, very natural and is many highly acclaimed players from the house Panasonic, LG, Philips and Samsung in nothing, quite the contrary. Most importantly: The running noise: The Yamaha BD-S673 is just quiet ... wonderful! With a DVD you can tell not at all sure the player is running at all, at a BluRay is heard when reading a faint, muffled sound, which is then no longer be heard in the playback mode, so almost perfect.
Only almost perfect because: The remote control of the player is a real irony and feels like a gumball machine. A real embarrassment for Yamaha, although not falling for me significant, since I use a multi-function remote control. Therefore, the thing went to the setup in the drawer ;-)
The integration in the operation along with my AV receiver (Onkyo TX-NR515) ran smoothly. However, I'm thinking about it already, to keep me the Yamaha RX-V673 in order to achieve optimum coordination between the player and receiver.
The player is to integrate quickly and easily with its various connectivity options in a wide variety of hi-fi environments.
The number of apps is completely unimportant to me since my Smart TV offers everything your heart desires and I therefore do not need any apps double and triple.
The value for money is at the regular price of 299, - (currently Amazon.com) still bearable, but just below the pain threshold for such a device. I was lucky to have a new unit on the Warehouse Deals by Amazon Italy for 200, - snatched! Who in terms of design and / or workmanship want more, then you have access significantly deeper into his wallet and set player made by Marantz, NAD or Oppo. However, it is then also very fast in the open-ended price scale beyond the 500, -!
Conclusion so far: The receiver is wonderfully quiet ... just wonderful. In terms of build quality, this player is different to the many plastic jars-brands that are otherwise available. A wertig processed Player! So I call the regular price-performance ratio as well.
An image quality, there is expected to be nothing at all to complain about, the control is straightforward and logical. One should treat the time and with the manual in hand to perform the setup reasonable, because we achieved to personal needs perfectly coordinated function of the player. Of course, as always should first update the firmware is loaded to come so to enjoy all updates and bug fixes.
If everything continues to go, I'm going to use this player for a long time hopefully!
