Journey Through The Past (CD)

Customer Review

Soundtrack outcome of the documentary of the same name directed by Neil Young in 1972, Journey Through The Past is a very long time remained unpublished in CD and yet it is not going to say that the eyes of fans as one of the Loner the masterpiece of his career. Composed of songs written by Neil Young under his name, with Buffalo Springfield (For What It's Worth / Mr Soul and Rock & Roll Woman) or Crosby, Stills & Nash (and Young) (titles 3, 4 and 5 recorded live at the Fillmore East in New York June 5, 1970), the album deserves a visit if only for that perfect compilation of the work of Neil Young in different formations.

But the pearl, the Grail, that I know still is in this deeply moving version of nearly 16 minutes Words (after Harvest). Agonizing 16 minutes, to give you to tears, the ball of flesh and the heart that bottom. While melancholy slide, lively solos that only the inimitable voice of Canadian interrupts moments before the strings do not come back this torrent of tears, remorse, regret. These 16 minutes are probably one of the most beautiful and most moving creation of Neil Young. If Harvest is a perfect album from start to finish, it must be admitted that this tops Words version therein. It's beautiful to cry, it is poignant ... a must!
