For the occasion, it is a Billy Joel very fit that occurs with a deeper voice certainly in its infancy but no less powerful. The group around him is level. While Billy is omnipresent keyboard, it does not leave a large place within its stooges scene. Special mention to the guitarist, sax and drummer both clear and precise. Add to that a good recording and perfection it borders.
Billy Joel has not published a new song for over 15 years with the notable exception of the single "All my life" appeared in 2007. It is a string of hits you listen here. Billy, however, has the good idea to re-orchestrate and thus renovate the whole; it gives a look at his very rock concert. Starting with the very well balanced "My life" (we want to loop), which is second title after a solo piano intro sets the tempo for all that follows. Goosebumps was on "She's always a woman" and "Goodnight Saigon" which are also chained to the delight of an audience very active. Public singing alone on "Piano Man".
Billy also has the intelligence to give lesser known and very rhythmic tracks like the excellent "Summer, Highland Falls" and "Keeping the faith". Also found jubilantly a title like "Scenes from an Italian Restaurant", unknown in France and yet shows the extent of talented musical spectrum Billy.
Another advantage of this live is the number of external interests: Tony Bennett, Garth Brooks, Steven Tyler, John Mellencamp or Roger Daltrey come each interpret a duet with Billy (with a provision unfortunately visible only to DVD for the last three). Add to this two stars: John Mayer on guitar for "This is the time" and Paul McCartney for a cover of "I saw her standing there". The story is beautiful because the former Beatle in turn invite Billy Joel for a new duo of the same title a year later, in 2009, Citifield during the world tour of McCartney.
But Billy Joel tribute to the Beatles did not stop there. Billy slyly inserts "A hard day's night" in the title "The river of dreams" and courteously Sir Paul also leaves alone on stage to conclude the concert with "Let it be".
One regret about this album is the lack of explanatory booklet pictures (at least in the edition 2CD + 2 DVD). But this is of course the music comes first here.
