The Clockwork Orange France (Paperback)

Customer Review

Hating the lynching, loving me an idea by myself, I was attracted by the hype, presenting the book "France: A Clockwork Orange" and its author or as a carrier hero of truth, or as a "fascist" agitator.
This text is published by a small publisher, though it is leading sales well ahead essayists who pass constantly in the media: it is therefore spends some-thing with this "France Clockwork Orange."

I discovered the author there is little on TV. It is a quiet individual, courteous, polite and willing to discuss his writings.

But this issue of public service, which runs every Saturday night in the second part of the evening, looked strangely like a session of the Revolutionary Court of Hi Public Committee as it sought to destroy not only about the relevance of the book of Mr. Obertone ( which reports to a legitimate criticism of work if done properly), but the author himself which is presented as a "sympathizer" of the FN, a fascist, so like the devil.

I ordered the book to judge the next day, on part of the "thing".

Mr. Obertone in a brilliant prose, but with a cold and cynical style that can sometimes collide, draws us, methodically, with terrifying examples and staggering statistics, the clinical picture of a patient France where rape, violence Free, murder are no longer considered by a large segment of the population, as serious transgressions but as the norm.

Worse, justice abounds in their direction. These criminals are punished if they do are very little in view of their acts in the name of an absurd idealism, it is believed that these people would do that because of the social misery that would strike them and these antisocial beings can still be socialized and rehabilitated. Crazy ideas that pave the way for an almost certain recurrence ...

Politicians from left and right, described by the author, all seem blinded and do not want to understand that, as in the novel of Anthony Burgess, a part of society has shifted into "ultra-violence" and that it can not be managed as conventional crimes and offenses. Faced with a worsening situation in front of the "savagery" of part of our country many leaders downplay or deny the facts simply.

We will argue that the crime has always existed, it is perfectly true. But you can not compare Jackets Black, Parisian Apaches or even Coquillards Villon to "scum" current if the former were many offenders and criminals, they were not wild sadistic and retained a sense or "code" of honor.

The author, whose perpetually feels indignation and anger, may be exaggerating if wins, sometimes becomes excessive in some of these words, but one can understand by hearing the testimonies of unfortunate victims of heinous brutality anyone normally consists feel rising in him a deep rage.

Not only are these victims are not compensated, monitored and supported as they should, but it is their executioner who enjoys "therapy" in order to "get back on the right path.

It persists in trying to re-educate criminals. This is absurd few criminals are able to understand and correct their shortcomings. Those who do will succeed only (reread Dostoyevsky) and this requires a long asceticism: redemption, to take a religious term is reserved only few people.

This book is certainly not devoid of faults (there are some shells, we would have liked more citations of criminological studies, a comparison with other OECD countries, and an abundant even English biography) is absolutely necessary. That is why I think it deserves five stars.
