It is still surprising that Hjalmar Schacht, decisive figure of contemporary history and great economist or, at least in France an illustrious unknown. In the history books, very little guidance on this great financier of Hitler, co-head of the criminal deportation of thousands of Jews. Personally I have done studies of "economics" and I've never heard of one who thrice saved Germany from ruin. This book is very well written on this ambiguous character, patriot above all, financially disinterested, and of him and of his convictions - even too sure, especially with respect to intimate relations ... Both brilliant and naive, why no, we can not be good everywhere! Manipulator manipulated? Subsections alternate, in the first person the personal vision of great banker and anti-Semitic, the coldest description by the author of a historical truth height of nonsense (the Munich Agreement), greed (capitalists worldwide, including some Bush), cowardice (Chamberlain), naivety ((Dalladier) and destructive madness (Hitler, Goering, Himler ......) The war ended, former enemies have become friends today, and that's good, large US firms (ITT ......) organize the world stage setting in instead their kings and devoted fools, and eliminating harmful pawns. Globalization is here, orchestrated by the same yesterday that precipitated the world in fratricidal wars, and the same causes generating the same effects .......... We can only worry about the future of our planet. Moreover, today, we can wonder about what would Schacht to the crisis: - Instead Merkel, it would loosen the stranglehold that prevents restarting of the economy in all European countries? - Instead of Mr Yanis Varoufakis, he would arrange for not honoring the Greek debt? - Instead of the French government, he decides to start up a real anti-unemployment fight plan without worrying about collateral damage? Yes, we can question, but everyone does not pragmatism nor his courage and it's a shame!
