From the first pages, we are immersed in this universe totally new. The world is prioritized according to a specific order. First archangels, who run the world and a reign of law. On their side the angels at their service vampires (processed by human archangels) and finally the rest of the population.
Elena has the gift of being able to feel the vampires, hence its business: vampire hunter. But contrary to what one can often read other novels (and, I think particularly to the series of Jeaniene Frost), the main work of Elena is not to kill them, but to find them vampires fleeing and bring them back to their masters. And among all the hunters, it is the best.
That is why it is called by the New York archangel Raphael, to embark on a very special hunt .... Not a vampire this time, but a mad archangel!
Elena is terrified by this summons and especially Raphael, who runs its territory with an iron hand. Cold, cruel when the situation demands, arrogant, shamelessly making use of its ability to control minds, the archangel is nothing angelic ... and yet it captivates us from the start! Then Elena refuses to be manipulated, Raphael is intrigued by this little fighter, which is nevertheless a human. Each of their meeting makes sparks!
Two main characters captivating, romance, action, add to that a handful of minor characters (best friends hunters, vampires and angels bodyguards, while powerful archangels ...) all as fascinating as each other and you get a gem!
A real favorite for this first volume. The rest is out and already scheduled for September 2011!
Do not also miss the short story "Angel's pawn," the author wrote to introduce his new series. It depicts Ashwini, a hunter of the Guild and January, a Cajun vampire. The events are located just before "The blood of the angels."
