The walimex Studio Set offers a very good price / performance ratio. It forms the basis for my "home studio". The flash heads have a good functionality and are suitable for my needs and easy fast enough. Sure, there are on the market also flashes with flash duration shorter and shorter charging times, but for portraits, nudes and personal problems of this rich, are even almost too bright. Images with an open aperture I do therefore almost exclusively with the modeling. Even more interesting is the setting of the modeling light is proportional to the selected flash output. The flash heads are meticulously crafted and look very solid, despite the plastic housing. Should overturn a high tripod though they certainly do not, but also considerably more expensive flash heads would then be just broken, the housing material is therefore not a gripe for me. The rest of the set has the usual Walimexqualität, perhaps not outstanding, but functional and solid. Only the suspension of inner diffusers of the softbox is less stable. Ever the softboxes are probably the weakest part of the set: fiddly build and partly maybe not forever stable.. The light from the softbox is nice and soft, just great. And the light from the Octabox is super soft. When you do not constantly have to assemble and disassemble it to do exactly what they want. Compared to an older model of the reflector holder has really improved and more stable. The small shortcomings are the little things mentioned the softbox, the fact that, one uses the remote control, the modeling light is not proportional, but must always be set individually and the lack of receivers for radio control. If you look closely, the stands in the product description, although it's annoying a strobe set with 2 flash heads for sale, with radio trigger, but only for a flash, because the enclosed Auslöserset a transmitter (that's enough), but also contains only a receiver. In an area of the first flash remote trigger can ignite and the second ignites then certainly often the built-in photo cell. But not if you have to get along in a larger hall or outdoor stands, ie without reflecting walls. Other Walimex studio sets (also considerably cheaper) included the second receiver. All in all I am very satisfied and would also give 4.5 stars, but that's not so.
