Dragon Age: Origins - Ultimate Edition (computer game)

Customer Review

After a number of customers about the problems with the activation of additional content (DLC) have complained: It's true, especially when one gets its software through Steam, it's pretty left alone with respect to the exact procedure for activation. But: A quick research on the internet and the problem dissolves quickly (additional activation by an activation code provided on the EA website required). I prefer for the poor at this point added support also from a point of giving the low-cost package from the main game + Awakening + various DLC side quests but only one or two stars, I find greatly exaggerated. Such written out of frustration reviews (or "It's the principle of" faction), I can understand, but they distort the impression I hope in the foreground standing gaming software. And the - so I think at least - is beyond doubt.
I must start by saying that I am for many years Bioware fan (Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights, KOTOR I and II, Jade Empire, Mass Effect), but also can most other RPG series abgewinnen what (eg Gothic Universe, Morrowind Oblivion, Two Worlds, Witcher). In my opinion, no one is building more compelling and more coherent in themselves universes at the same time combine as much intelligent story with a catchy gameplay. For me, Bioware has always stood as a guarantee for high quality and playfulness.
And that is (so far) definitely remained so. In addition, because it has a graphic splendor that might not like correspond to the latest state, but need to hide even before any other role-playing and the history is very impressive scene (only the fire effects worth seeing) ... It tells an epic and multifaceted history, with different output Stories and depending on your taste in very different disposition or specialization even when multiple playthrough still something new offers according to the character-selection (eg noble dwarf, flaskless dwarf). If you play the entire Ultimate Edition by including side quests, but you is employs over 100h long even with simple playthrough. And in contrast to the often acclaimed Oblivion me was this never boring (there suggested me the portal crossings with the same old towers at some stage on). A particularly useful innovation is mE the tactics menu for the fellow. One must learn einfuchsen, understand the menu and pretty much know about that spell, special attack or other actions (eg healing) in what phase of the struggle and which enemy or ally against the most sense, but finally one can regulate minutely, what the AI companions do in combat so. To be upset about the poor AI, making it one of the past, one is to blame, if you have not programmed any eventuality ... :-) The balancing is usually balanced, though to represent Fights against some bosses Heavy Loads (eg High Dragon) and can only be overcome with a balanced vehicle mixture. There are fair memory points, but you can save at any time. There is a convenient quick travel map generally not open-world feeling like in Gothic or Oblivion, which personally did not bother me. Schlauchig it's still not, because you can work through the different places in almost any order.
But enough of the dry Details: Leaving aside the somewhat hackneyed fantasy scenario, Bioware has outdone itself here again. Incredibly large, incredibly well told, incredibly beautiful, incredibly complex.

PS: I wonder which accommodate Maniacs gather all the irrelevant for the actual quests details about customs, history, etc., and in the hidden anywhere in the world books. Hundreds of mostly several pages long and quite elaborate treatises on Ferelden, Denerim that different peoples, demons etc. I have eventually stopped to read it. Not because I think it would be boring, but the time ...
