A new volume of the Dark Tower? That was unexpected ... But Stephen King was not finished and he still had things to tell. In this case, an episode of Roland's life and a story set in the Entre-World. The whole is introduced in the story of Roland and his ka-tet. The introduction brings nothing, let's be honest, and therefore is not fully embarked in the book from the beginning. But we had that kind of history somewhere, so admit ... The problem is that Roland's youth narrative is not very engaging. Mr. King is speaking in the first person Deschains, he should not have done, because it reveals too the thoughts of Roland, who had a far from welcome mystery. Moreover, history has no great interest (it was a bit like track Experts Version In the World) and as King does not offer an atmosphere as he knows describe it without bed displeasure this story, but we did not attach any real significance. Where's the whole point of the book is in the tale where King demonstrated an outstanding talent narrator, setting the mood in a few lines, adding pressure by fine touches, distilling the action with precision and affecting our feelings accurately. Just for those pages immersed in the story of young Tim, reading this volume 8 is essential. The rest of the book is a sideline not unpleasant but completely dispensable.
