For those who read my column on "Witch Song ', Volume 1 of this saga damber Argyle, you know that if jadorais originality and the action of the universe damber Argyle, I had more trouble with personality quite annoying her heroin when she was not crying, was angry or complained. However, it's true quen closing the book, one can only want to find out later!
This is what happened mest: I really wanted to find out more and immerse myself in the world of witchcraft. So when i had the opportunity to read "Witch Born" I literally thrown over, despite the little apprehensive about Senna and unbearable.
And luckily i went! This second album is much better in many ways: either in terms of characters, both main and secondary, or at the action, everything has more depth than in the first book.
Senna, in particular, is one that has made the most change between the two volumes: she grew up, matured, and despite a few false notes (in particular the totally contradictory attitude with Joshen, blowing hot and cold) she my much more pleased! It also feels the prey to a great inner suffering, torn between what it should do and what it would do. It is darker than in Volume 1, less naive and more courageous as well. Qualities that made him defect and, for my delight, it germinated in the meantime.
Joshen has also changed, but on this one, not necessarily better: it has become more stubborn and protective instinct finds himself pushed to the extreme, until endanger his love. But this darkness can give movement to the plot and to have, as a bonus, too less moments "too much" in between. He too is plagued by an internal conflict between his will and that of Senna daider protect that fact that relations between them are really tense.
Apart from these two main characters, we find other like Sacra, the mother of Senna and ladorable Pogg, really makes me melt every appearance. We see little (too little for my taste, because this is my favorite), but it gives a little something to the story each time, and it is always a great help for Senna. Then there are the secondary characters that appear in this second volume, taking more dampleur: Arianis, the rival of Senna at the shelter, which would deserve a good spell; Mistinguett, the only witch friend Senna, very little good at singing, but with many others resources; Cord, his brother, a strange character who also appears attractive queffrayant; and Reden, quon has already had the pleasure of discovering in Volume 1 and became the leader of the Guardians of the Refuge. He will also become the confidant of Senna and his adviser, when Joshen is incapable, lacking discernment because of his relationship with the witch. Jai liked Reden, precisely to his honest side, right and who can see things as a whole. He is brave and protective, nayant not afraid to make sacrifices when the situation demands, and even when this is to its detriment.
As for the action, this book takes us to the confines of the world of Senna, and between attacks Refuge, the threat treacherous dune in the ranks of witches, and the journey that will perform Senna, Amber Argyle does not leave us here minute to catch our breath. The pages turn by themselves, the plot is well put together and always unexpected twists.
In summary, we had an excellent second volume, which rabiboche me with Amber Argyle and his heroine! As with Volume 1, the main message remains the importance of nature in our universe: we discover the Tartannie three months after the Witches have cast a curse on it, and everything that nest death and desolation. Nothing grows, the water no longer falls, and the corpses strewn dust. Life has abandoned these lands, because nature also left them. One understands the respect that the man must have towards the environment that surrounds because without this respect, we run for disaster. The history of the Tartannie in this volume is a parable of what can happen to our world in the years to come if we do not act quickly. Certainly it will not be a group of witches who destroy the Earth, but it's worse, since it will be us: we are the ones responsible for the future of our world, as we are the ones responsible for his health.
However, when we see the pace things are going, this scenario catastrophe and the idea of ​​a desolate world, devoid of water and life, become more and more possible in the next 100 years. Unless quon But that act finally, this is a much more unlikely scenario.
