A mystical masterpiece

After the great work "Atom Heart Mother" by Pink Floyd, I can now also for some time "Ummagumma" call my own. Now, after the first hearing I was a little confused and surprised at the same time. The album consists of 2 CDs, each CD actually represents an independent album! CD 1 contains 4 long, being rocked, slow live pieces of the band, the sound very mystical, psychedelic and extremely insistent. These songs go very deep into the subconscious! Here the listener needs a few passes to present themselves from today's perspective in the sounds and in the music! Very awesome !!!!!! CD 2 consists of a variety mostly small instrumental, threatening and sinister compositions, which give the listener a hard nut to crack! Everything sounds very strange, spooky and very experimental. The basics of the compositions are usually very harmonious, but this harmony is temporarily deliberately destroyed or distorted, thus creating contradictions! Here it is less about music, but more to create moods that are scary and full of tension. Who has this once understood, can come any better cope with this second CD! Access to this 2.CD is a completely different like a regular music CD, because here the term or meaning of music is completely redefined! CD 2 is often criticized and usually takes less attention. However, for me it is indispensable and makes "Ummagumma" only completely! In addition, it would be a wonderful soundtrack for an old black / white-shocker. I personally listen to CD 2 much more often, for it represents the essence of the album for me and shows "Pink Floyd" of the most distinctive, most experimental side! CD 2 was to be heard as a whole and considered, because only coherently develop the songs and the sound works a unique atmosphere! The sounds used on "Ummagumma" are now completely extinct, so the listener should take a long time for this album! It is also an incredibly complex work! One finds at some point into or leaves it disappear, never to return in a dark box. The complete work can be compared in any way with today's music. So a daring album will probably never again! The cover is unique and soo to the music! Inserts the CDs, lights at night a candle and lie on the sofa. Let abduct you into a strange world! The album is not any time to consume because of the strangeness. It needs darkness, or at least dim lighting and you should be in a certain mood. The album should be enjoyed at a time, so it is a real trip. Even people who do not take pleasure the album Because of the strangeness confirm me a healing effect on the mind! Some fragments from this great album I still knew from my early childhood (1970 ???), but those memories faded over the decades. By chance I heard some time ago after all these years back and there came upon me unexpectedly, these old feelings and memories, then what captivated me immediately! For me this is a wonderful board rediscovered treasure and a very nice childhood memories! Despite all the darkness and threatening notes exudes from this comfort and a great calm! When I'm listening to today's albums so, then I think again about what are then published for entertaining and daring albums! Especially the early Pink Floyd albums between 1969-71 are a pure listening experience for me! At that time, in my opinion, had to show a high entertainment quality album! Listening to music should be like an adventure and exactly this is missing today albums! Despite the age "Ummagumma" acts not dusty to me. On the contrary, this Future Sound waiting in the distant future on its rediscovery. Rather sound today's modern albums compared with "Ummagumma" like a complete musical retrogression. In any case, "Ummagumma" great cinema for my ears! I love this album like no other! Many artists are and were thrilled by this album and influences! Each buyer should be aware that this work is absolutely unique and you have to leave all the usual musical sounds behind him before listening to this CD! This music is out of this world, but from the very edge of the universe! When the band had recorded cosmic sounds and noises of light years distant galaxies! During the making of the album, the band members must have been in a very special energy, whether with or without drugs! There are probably those energies with which other artists created absolute masterpieces! "Pink Floyd" is here an extremely spiritual, mindexpanding album succeeded that generates unknown pictures and movies while listening to inside! Never before has so captivated me an album like this, because it spreads a breathtaking mystical, eerie, but warm atmosphere! These songs never wear out and you can always discover something new in them. There is a completely timeless work that in 100 years, is likely to inspire people. Of course, also has this album for me slight weaknesses, but they are absolutely forgiven and no further consequence. So I met with the misplaced something annoying song "Astronomy Domine". This song lacks the hypnotic and mystical. Also "Several Species Of Small .... I find something about turn and brought me neither music nor a certain mood, but in the end it somehow interesting." Ummagumma "is my great musical love and therefore I forgive at least 10 stars. Who challenging music appreciates and who wants to right times hard nut to crack, I can put this complex work to his heart. In the end you will love it or hate.

To my sorrow are in the booklet and on the inside of the CD edition is no longer the original photos from the LP of 1969. An album is a historical document and should therefore remain completely untouched. These original photos are inseparable from the music. Changes are like the icing on the cake, but not here. The also need to be squeezed into a cheap cardboard box the CDs, is a joke.
