An excellent novel that emphasizes mass misery - such as post-war period - can enjoy (even in peacetime) not only to the elect, to the Administration and Finance, but also a few clever swindlers who exploit successfully the great moments of collective emotion. An excellent book that leaves devour without pause until the denouement.
