This book, I've had the book fair in Paris 2013. So a little over a year. I must admit that when I saw the display cover, I completely flashed on. It is simple, elegant and exudes something dintrigant. And the artifact makes sense when playing. I think that this integral and the history it contains, could be a big blow to heart, if the font size is not too small. Because yes, I loved reading this, so this column will be positive, and yes, the font size ruined a little reading. But I will return later.
In Helderion, death can pay big for some. But when it falls on the family more "posh", the events are linked, with the betrayals and secrets (sometimes shameful) erupt. When the youngest of the family Manérian is found murdered in a sordid alley, the family broke into pieces.
The novel is divided in two parts, I would say.
The first is the first daughter of the family Manérian: Noony a oraisonnière. His life is dedicated to the temple and prayers she does on the dead. This means that every death, an initiation (I do not find the word I want ...) is for the spirit of the deceased go in peace. But gradually as we advance in this novel, the girl will soon realize that something serious is going on, which call into question its projects and decisions. I loved this character, because we see it grow gradually. On the one girl who follows the instructions of his father to the letter, we find it completely queen of his choices and actions. It becomes more and more strong, and despite all the misfortunes that happen around her, she stands tall in all circumstances. At the end of each chapter, I could not wait for the next comes to see what she would do.
The second part is more focused on his young sister, Aileen. She is pleased that warrior Noony more determined to avenge the death of their sister, even if it means killing. I loved that character so even if Noony me more touched by his gentle side. Aileen is strong from the start and did not hesitate to challenge the orders of his father, that it does not accept at all. Despite the fact that it takes a certain grade throughout the story, she remains humble and strong in his convictions. It does not benefit from its status to assert some authority, quite the contrary. And I think this is it I like about her: she remains true to herself.
One thing I liked in the book is that the author includes an interlude between each chapter, allowing us to follow other characters on just two pages. However, these passages are very well proportioned to the point that comes in to focus a little bit about them. Another big plus point, it is the small texts that are at the beginning of each chapter. It is at this point that we realized that the author mastered his subject, and that the universe is very comprehensive. I am fully appreciative. But in addition to see that the subject is mastered, it allows us, as readers, to learn in a few lines only.
So as I said earlier, the only negative that made me wince and not enjoy my reading, it is the size of the font that is really too small. After only 20 pages, I had red eyes, and I was tired. Which is a shame, because the worst part about it is that the universe pleased me so much that I would have liked to devour this book as he was on and I am sure that without this, this book would be a heart stroke. Still, despite this font too small, I recommend this book was a real nice discovery for me!
And the end ... Wow, I never thought that I would as. I was afraid that everything goes too fast, as the author chooses an easy finish. But no, I cried and I hated the author at the same time. It was so sudden that I did not really expect it. And when I finished the book, my reaction was: "What, already? No, but it's not possible, I want more! "So, I'm frustrated because I know that there will be no result and that despite everything, the end is sufficient unto itself.
In summary, a perfectly controlled world, engaging characters, endearing, strong, humble and remain natural. Plots, truths that hurt, of twists that make us open big eyes and mouth. A really nice pen drives to continue our reading without stopping. Interludes that allow us to know and follow the secondary characters. In short, a universe that I recommend for those who love fantasy. Damage, however, that the police are too small.

"The silence and silence are two words with very different meanings. Silence opens the passage to the revelation while cutting the silence. The silence envelops the big events, the silence hides. One mark of progress, the other a regression. "
"Yet it would be a lie to say that I shed. So I think back to that day, and I still feel like it was yesterday. There are memories that will never abandon you, pursuing you in spite of yourself. When I was young, I had tears without sorrow. Now I have a tearless grief. "
