The planet's environment Gemma is intensely felt by the reader, it is a very rhythmic with a popular vocabulary narrative, quite extensive and free of any bombastic character.
The narration is often in the third person, and the narrator is a character who occasionally leads a kind of internal dialogue on how the "I" or "we".
This neat narrative is complemented by precise and credible dialogues completely free of gibberish, all accompanied by superb descriptions and occasionally myths recitations solid inspiration contributing to the emergence brilliantly strangeness.
I add that humor and psychology are not missing this novel.
Actually the style is not without thinking to that of CJ Cherryh but the narrative is less intense than in the splendid and hectic world alliance and union and not a defect.
On the thematic level, the ambition is obligatory: the colonization of a distant and hostile planet, deserts alien artifacts distill in consciousness the knowledge that much more advanced life forms that humanity exist or have existed in the universe.
These artifacts also distill curiosity and passion among scientists but also broadcast a form of public concern, the reasons are not perhaps so fantastical that, unlike these causes may be real, a form of joint activity of these millennia yet relics.
