Written by Kléber Haedens essentially at the age of thirty, this history of French literature surprised by its quality writing and assumed subjectivity. From the Middle Ages until the 70s, Haedens performs a retrospective of the main authors in presenting the life and work of each with as much clarity as enthusiasm, frequently resorting to eloquent poetic tirades. The author hides nothing from his sympathies (Villon, Nerval, Proust ... and poetry found in every age an equitable place) or antipathies (many from Rousseau to Robbe-Grillet, through false romantic, Hugo, the naturalists, Sartre ...), but this controversial aspect does not interfere with reading - sometimes it just heats (Flaubert despised!).
This brief history of literature full of character and charm is an undeniable success.
