A road trip of a lifetime, but also criticism.

This and more is just great:

- A graphical HIGHLIGHT, detail until you drop. No matter where you look, in corners, on the floor, on the ceiling, it's a dream. Every item is different, there is virtually no repetition. Each picture and each photo in rooms is different, and come damn many pictures in the game!

The surfaces look fantastic, whether wood, metal, bricks, boards, cobbles, leather. Everything looks vivid and real. Plaster, wallpaper, masonry work just great. Puddles, reflections and rain look fantastic. Even difficult to be displayed items such as sheets, curtains, newspapers, individual pages. Cables or power lines are finally shown really succeeded at The Last of Us!

Great, I also think that you look through in the majority of the windows (panes) and can admire the outside world in real time.

Also in the background is happening almost always something. Mice, falling objects, dust, birds, plants, leaves in the wind, airborne, footprints in real time, people engaged in their work, Ellie, whistles, is curious and busy themselves. A matching sound effects underscores the addition.

The camera actually takes the (realistic) perspective of a Joel, depending on whether it is or (also is it always behind him, no matter how he moves) is crouched.

And as if all that is not already amazing enough, gestures and facial expressions all characters are - and not just in the cutscenes breathtaking.

- The story is told in total, although quiet but very exciting and comprehensible. The voice actors do their thing outstanding. The dialogues have had a set on myself just to one or two places. And there are some sequences that are simply breathtaking.

There are also some very nice addition to stories, if you read the letters and notes carefully. (. Eg the story about Bill) and especially to Ish, who impressed me the fishermen)

- The gameplay is quite adapted to the slow pace of the story. But since you constantly stands at the same time under tension by dipped one or the other monotonous passage fortunately quite well.

- After initial skepticism, control goes very good overall of the hand. Initially, however, go some tactics to not really know because one slips away or then everything goes too fast to handle the multi-selector.

Overall, The Last of Us looks graphically and emotionally as a mixture of Heavy Rain and UC 2! :)

Criticisms:

What bothered me:

- Several times I wanted to turn back to browse rooms that I had left out for example. because Ellie screamed for help and suddenly I am of course, immediately ran to her. But doors through which one has just arrived, were suddenly spiked, filled paths and blocks. Even if it caused story was not necessary or no cut scene came. They want to leave anything out and then you have to decide between Story and intellectual curiosity. Because you would Ellie can probably ignore and browse in peace all rooms without that something had happened to her.

- Rear corners you can not turn off enemies such as. in AC or UC! It is always seen and the own first blow is ineffective. It is not intended by the game that an opponent around the corner can grab.

- Minor annoyances and Umständlichkeiten like that you use melee weapons automatically even if you would rather use his fists to himself annul the melee weapons for certain difficult opponents.

- The equipment menu is tw bit cumbersome, as well as the storage system, if one takes after you play on the search for collectibles.

- I want to play through the game in any case again. Here you can take the equipment with which you have finished the game just the same difficulty again select (Game Plus)! That's really stupid, because if I have the game on a particular difficulty setting already done, why should I want to play exactly the same difficulty again (and with improved equipment ?? How much easier should it not be ?!).

It would have made sense as a previous speaker has already noted the improvements take in a more difficult level, so although it remains demanding, the troubles for previous diligent search and collecting but are rewarded.

For the platinum trophy, it could be boring but then if you also again have to go through a game-Plus each graduated level of difficulty.

- For online games you have to use the enclosed coupon code. Although the text on the card and on the cover of the game intended that you need this only redeem when certain extras (weapons, maps, outfit, etc.) want. (Voucher code to redeem to access all online features.)
However, one does not even in a normal multiplayer game as example without any code (Network Password). at Uncharted was the case.
The text is therefore misleading. Correctly it should read: Redeem coupon code to play (at all!) Online.
Ie. one can not escape to play the game online.

This will many probably do not bother, yet it is one mentioned, because it restricts unlike UC.

CONCLUSION:

A great and evocative journey of discovery. Overall, more quiet and gloomy, which is a welcome change to most other games. This is certainly not for everyone, but a great experience, it is all.

Despite the slowness of the game for a second I was bored. Only towards the end of the game there were one or two chapters, I found weaker. But you love to move in this world, which is in itself not fast, that one almost overlooks the lengthier points. There then returns usual adventurous continues and ends surprisingly honest and pathos.

Naughty Dog at its best, that's my UC 3, as it should be. Although the appearance and tw. the game mechanics unmistakably applied thereto, but it is technically independent mood and action.

A fantastic road trip with some very emotional and unusually realistic moments.
