A short, solid first-person shooter with good graphics

Black Site was verissen for publication in late November 07 by various game magazines. Too many bugs and AI errors were present and PC games even wrote in a preliminary test, that they had a bug that made its Score unusable.

These statements I would not deny this. For some however, has in the meantime done at Black Site, and 2 patches submitted which have corrected the most bugs.

Danger

My test relates to the original English version, but up to the speech does not differ much from the German. One had only said: The English version already comes to DVD with Version 1.1. Only 1.2 must be installed to. The German version, however, was even already delivered according to Internet research with Version 1.2. The extent to which the two versions "Bugmäßig" different, I can not answer unfortunately. Just that I after the patch from 1.1 to 1.2 had only one crash at stake. Otherwise, everything went flawlessly!

Gameplay

The gameplay is very first-person shooter default feels. W, A, S, D to move and the mouse to shoot bwz. Zooming. Veterans should therefore switch the difficulty at the outset on the hardest level, otherwise you are very far unchallenged with the künstilichen intelligence of opponents. The Bos-fights require little tactics. Quick shooting and good goals, more is not required here and the boss is really fast to the ground. I played from the beginning to Hard (medium difficulty) and got to about 5 hours already the guy to see. Screen death has hardly because the screen with fierce shelling redder colors slowly, then you should go in the latest cover. After 5-10 minutes you regeneration top fit again and again continue to shoot cheerful mood. Say Medipacks or other Health Packs There are therefore not in Black Site.

Opponents AI is acting properly. Soldiers do not run like zombies blindly going on one, but take cover, throw grenades or regroup. The one still does not difficult to be proficient shooter fan to convey the enemies into nirvana, is obviously at the to "user friendly" Difficulty to Midway has screwed up. What is very important yet: Be sure to install Black Site on English. The story is understood in English without any problems safely. The German language edition is unfortunately catastrophic.

Graphic

About the graphics is debatable. The textures of the team or of other characters are depicted very vividly. In the beginning, it happens a so than the figures would have been just implemented into the game, but not really merge with the game world. After a while you get used to it. In the graphic quality, the views column. Some textures are not very detailed and carelessly (especially some surfaces or objects), others shine in turn in front of detail. Here Midway would have to work more closely. Because that sometimes obscures much the flair of Shooters. Even with the HD-lighting the technicians of Midway have dealt too little. The game works perfectly overexposed. You really need the graphics options set the brightness to 50% runterschrauben so not everything looks like freshly polished ;-)

Graphic Style default Blacksite reminiscent Quake 4 or Timeshift. In Half Life 2 Black Site does not really ran. This are just too many details were implemented sloppily, on the other hand offers the Unreal Engine 3 and some levels, some to wonder bring (eg. In Roswelt). So a flair I have not seen for a long time in Bioshock up on. Such an intense gameplay experience with such a neat graph of, other development studios only dream.

I put all the details on high at Black Site in the graphics options and games at a resolution of 1280x1024, but jerky Game also frequently (from inexplicably) when I switch anisotropic filter to 4x. With 2x Whats wrong rucklfrei. Anti-aliasing I could not activate the graphic display menu only. But that would eat even more performance and wiggled the then already tarnishes the entire gaming experience. What is still left. Is relevant. The game takes after installing the 2 DVD's 11GB one on the hard disk.

Conclusion

A solid first person shooter, which would turn out but certainly longer can and now after Patch 1.2 bug-free running. Alternative: Timeshift (even better graphics and better performance)
