3 - Printer Presentation: 6/10
A large plastic cube appearing fragile, with only one cassette tray on the front (not a second supply system).
The drawer is designed to receive all kinds of paper / envelopes.
The ink cartridges are installed at the front very easily.
Above the drawer there is a "telescopic receiving arms" for receiving printed materials.
A display screen with buttons, in use and configuration, assume read the documentation for it is not very intuitive.
On the left side, you can connect either the network cable or the USB cable. We can close the door because the manufacturer as a "throat" so that the wire does not prevent the door from closing.
Too bad that this model does not have WI FI system because fed cables (to date, I have about twenty wires behind my PC and under my desk where I take my feet)
At the back, you can open a hatch to access the paper, by wrapping to be printed, can get stuck. I did not deliberately stuck the paper to see if it can be accessed easily. Ditto for the hatch that allows control over editing if, once open, the printer stops working.
This machine heats and on each front side - on the edge - there is a vent for "free" heat. So beware, do not cover them or leave them open because of the dust.

4 - cartridges: 5/10
They are impressive compared to the same old cartridge inkjet ink at least 6 or 7 times more imposing.
We must test the cartridge printing capability, but it is too soon.
The price seems prohibitive to purchase - a comment implied that there were 150 euro for the 4 cartridges. That seems a lot, but there are "compatible" to 50 Euro four (that equal? It will try), actually we risk paying a high price by purchasing the brand, putting the ink liter During a "stock" to drive up the manufacturer's profits. All manufacturers "exaggerate" the cost of ink and one is in the dynamics of phones where the material is given or sold cheap, this is the communication recovers.
Apparently these cartridges are 4 times more productive than inkjet cartridges, speaking of 2,000 sheets per cartridge (depending of course, the colors used, some cartridges are empty more slowly than others).
It exists in the configuration opportunities to save ink (see the manual).
However, you can control the number of prints in color and / or black and white in normal version or "economic" release.
It has a duplex function which is good knowing that the machine will count as a single document if you print a sheet on both sides.
This printer has a professional approach to their cost of printing with a whole lot of statistics including the use of the cartridges and the number of printed pages, but also on the notification of the state of the remote printer ( no paper, machine stop etc.). The latter possibility is for network administrators who can monitor the status of such printers installed in their companies. For an individual, it is much simpler.
5 - Manual: 6/10
It must be loaded from the CD but I do not find it convenient to read with references everywhere. In fact, it is in HTML and I advise you to put the icon on your desktop when you want to visit.
It is comprehensive and not necessarily easy to "swallow" because there are many opportunities on this printer, again rather turned towards the world of business to that particular, although one does not preclude the other.
I invite you to print sheets with the setup menu, put it in a plastic bag and refer primarily operation on the printer).
6 - Use: 7/10
I used to print a color photo.
The heating time past, I could access the printer menu from my computer. This menu does not look like the ones we are used to see on other devices, but just take the time to read it before printing.
Printing time in view of the desired quality is quite long and the result seems more "bland" and less bright, while respecting the colors displayed on the screen. This comes from the printing system and ink used.
The print result? 8/10 to locate my satisfaction level.
In short ... it's one of the first Ricoh models. Active buyer and materials, I can confirm that it is a serious brand (seen unpacking). However, if there is a dual-powered model with a wireless connection, it would be desirable, given the price of the hardware compared to the prices of inks, to favor.
On plain paper, the result is more acceptable than an inkjet printer that "buvardise" ink and never makes pretty prints (including a map, a photo etc.). This solution seems more appropriate to me according to the real need.
So I have at my disposal a Canon Inkjet for text documents / paper and Ricoh gel ink for photos and images / plain paper. To see in time.
