Gadgets are always a compromise between conflicting requirements: We want a large display and pocketable, long battery life and low weight, maximum configurability and ease of use, best quality and low price, a bright, sunlight-readable display and low power consumption to some contradictory to name requirements.
These problems have to be aware not to have unattainable expectations of the product. So I've been thinking of buying a new mobile phone, what are my basic requirements and which device is best suited to this.
My criteria were:
sunlight readable, sharp display
internal memory of 8GB
Memory expansion up to 64GB
pocket suitable format
Housing and replaceable battery
Photo light and torch function
Camera with image stabilizer
good telephone conversation quality
Music player with equalizer and good sound
Bluetooth and Wi-Fi
liquid and easy operation
Free Offline Navigation
good office and calendaring
stable processing
Price below 200
After I had applied these criteria to the apparently complex market, only the Nokia 620 remained. With 180, the price was as much as 10% below my limit. So much for the paper form. So ordered the device through Amazon.
As suggests the device in practice? Because what good the best values on the data sheet, if the practice it is not confirmed? Here are my impressions after 5 weeks, daily use.
Processing acts stable and precise. The display can be read well in direct sunlight, color-fast and sharp. The camera takes decent pictures, although you would expect from the small sensors of mobile phones no SLR quality. That's physically impossible. With the free Flashlight app you have a take-along flashlight that illuminates light to 4 meters.
Call quality is good. My Bluetooth device can be up to 10 meters operate properly. The battery lasts me more than 3 days, because I rarely use Wi-Fi for surfing. Use the music player via cable barely claimed the battery. Bluetooth is also sufficient, because the battery lasts for 2 days at loose frequent use.
There are numerous free and not spying apps that are reviewed and approved by Microsoft. Meanwhile, 48 installed and the L620 remains stable and liquid. The Nokia Navigation software is fast and accurate and also offline, ie without telephone costs available worldwide, because you can download the maps on Lumia 620. With other software app can also record tracks, the height and speed display and so on. I have a compass, a protractor, spirit level, centimeter knife Photo Beamer, stopwatch, translator, calculator and other useful aids installed. All programs run smoothly and without crashing.
The Hotmail calendar function is clear and easy to configure. The synchronization with the PC is done automatically, the integration of contacts with birthdays is helpful. Whoever wants to can can send events by email automatically in memory. The setting up my 4 mail accounts had any problems, as well as that of Skype, and Skydrive additional online storage. Overall, I stand by two providers now 32 GB free of charge.
There you can deposit or in order to edit documents in Word, Excel or PowerPoint from different places Photos and Videos. Also notes that you call up on your PC or tablet and want to edit. For this, the 64GB come on the internal memory card. Fed up memory.
Sometimes I miss the FM radio. That's been the biggest weakness, but since I knew this before buying, this is no reason for point deduction.
My comprehensive than 30GB music collection is quickly accessed and displayed. Lug around an extra MP3 player is redundant. The sound quality of the electronics is very good. No noise even at high Lautstärke.Mit good headphones, for which one should spend at least 50, listening is a pleasure. Deep bass, accurate mids and clear highs. Good spatial resolution of the sound image. Audio books make joy. One caveat is to make in ease of use, because the switch from one album to another, is a bit strange. The equalizer works well and accurately, but can not be called directly from the player, but only through a separate app window. A small comfort defect which should be corrected.
The wireless reception is good, the Lumia 620 still also builds in a weaker signal stable compounds.
Joy makes typing messages on the onscreen keyboard, because the proposals are getting better after writing mails and text messages, as the program remembers the own writing habits and adapts the proposals accordingly. An extremely useful extension, since the quality of the proposals in the meantime so well is that it saves me a lot of typing. Switching between different languages in a text is done with a click. The word strikes are adjusted according to the chosen language.
Conclusion:
For my needs, the Lumia 620 has consistently convincing answers.
The harware Nokia blameless and even the much maligned Windows Phone software from Microsoft proposes bravely with a few limitations. Above all, they run much more stable than Android on my tablet, and requires no additional antivirus software.
Therefore, on my part five stars in view of the low price and the quality offered. A successful compromise
