The new board has really surprised me. But not because of the concept. The journey of Scarlet by USA from west to east is a nice gimmick, but the deeper meaning not decrypted to me. Many tracks have in their lyrics no geographical relationship. The plate is politically or socially critical only in trace amounts, as they would have liked some critics. But let's be honest: That it does not really matter, right? As long as the music is right ... And the really true this time. This album You can not escape, the beautiful melodies and polyphonic accompaniments (except the initial public Dorfer time much acoustic (5.12) and E (11,12) guitars and percussion (2.9) that fit almost too good) are as harmonious as actually never been to Tori Amos. And therein lies the Ueberaschende in this album. Had she not constantly trying really since the fantastic album "Boys For Pele" to go in ever new directions to its limits, it comes with the new album in its center and makes it to the listener as easy as never before. Personally, I liked her escapades. When you're as gifted, we must quietly take time into account, to be understood not all. Not always I could with their albums which begin. While the Boys For Pele am still blown away, I could not cope with her Strange Little Girls. Some will have gone the other way around. What the hell. And yes: There Understandable Tori Amos is still top quality. The board proves that eingaenger Pop does not have to be mundane. Unlike many other comments, however, I do not find that Tori Amos returns to its roots. The innocent / sexy rustling of the oh-so-sweet girl behind the wings (Now I'm bitter: the Britney pseudo intellectuals) is over. Sounds to me the new plate very clarified and grow. If Tori Amos asserts that 2001 would have 9/11 and depressed the birth of her child in this album, so I think this is most likely in the maturity of the album and the desire to do something understandable, unifying (also for non-die-hard fans) deliver. I've left some time to assess the album, fearing that the CD could gradually due to its catchiness at frequent Hoeren lose its charm. That's not the case. Sometimes I wish though a bit more musical variety, all the tracks are a bit mellow, the voice is always around and legato, but in the end just makes the album - these prudent reflection. I am very curious to see if Tori breaks out again next time ... Anspieltips (in addition to the single / Sorta Fairytale - 2): Virginia - 17 Wednesday - 3 I Can not See New York - 12 PS: Speaking of New York, here in this little pompous - but fantastic - Track I understood for the first time compared to Kate Bush. The song could have also come from the latter ...
