No, so bad is it not again - although I understand the comments of my Vorrezensenten but I felt something different. The second part was not quite as captivating but the 296 pages have been "eaten" within two vacation days. The conclusion may appear compressed, as opposed to looking for the Shapeshifter-ship but that's what I have expected: A search can make lengthy and nerve-wracking. The author could be this well enough time to describe this aspect of well - but I was never bored. A 150-page description of the final-fight would me less fettered than the interpersonal niceties.
The fact that this story is the final test for Wesley, it was already clear at the time, when he was confronted in the first part with the destruction of the Enterprise. This second part is a little heavy but Wesley in that it also contradicts not only the brave Bübchen, his character seems a bit more authentic.
The only thing that bugged me was the still far too close relationship with his mother. He would have to be somewhat independent of his age and after 7 years of education and not as strongly focused on his mommy.
All in all a complete and exciting story that very well could have been filmed.
