Customer Review

Gaz Coombes' MATADOR is a small pop-pearl. The creative head of Brit popper SUPERGRASS removed after its dissolution and its fluffy solo debut Here Come The BOMBS further from rock sound of the band and makes this almost forgotten. A ticking melancholic than two years ago and with more electronic influences, Gaz 'sound is always independent, and continues to live by good melodies that are topped with a delicate use of accents.

Here Gaz breaks the structures happy times, so the middle imploded and momentarily loses in psychedelic soundscapes like the taste treibendenTHE ENGLISH RUSE. Or the opener BUFFALO who alternates between sluggish Programming and pathetic refrain. Very nice also the semi-ballad SEVEN WALLS Their 60s sound and the dramatic chorus. With most synths after 70s and '80s sound while wearing oscillate as little Radiohead Schwippschwager a more contemporary sound outfit. - A beautiful ballad complacent? THE GIRL WHO FELL TO EARTH is waiting to be discovered. Sought stadium-compatible chorus - SEVEN WALLS delivers as desired.

The fifth star is not enough, because this beautiful, versatile pop album very abruptly collapses after 9 song; the two miniatures from less close, as they give the impression that the recordings were aborted in the middle. And as always remains a non-circular overall impression. Although unfortunate, but until then, it has become a really fine plate. Enjoy listening!
