After a successful first part ...

Exceptional stories whose authors strive with their works stand out from the crowd, so to the reader (or listener) to offer something really new and unexpected, are always a great thing. Of which there are far too few! Too often one uses only fully extended lutschter clichés. Although it was in the first part of "The Border" not everything reinvented by far, but the action was around the macabre 'Buffet' certainly come up with some creative ideas and a really exciting story to tell with an all too open end. Especially for radio plays that was really something else! Thus, I was very excited about the second part.

At whose appearance I was to learn once surprised that Part 2 should represent "The pact with death" not a continuation of the first story, but what I give no penalty! Maybe you want the first story indeed continue in a later episode, no idea. Anyway, I let myself in spite of this small disappointment like a completely new story and a new scenario, because I assumed that this time something original would have come up again ...

Unfortunately I was very disappointed in this regard. Instead of 'new' there were almost exclusively frumpy in Part 2. During the first four / five minutes at least still a nice introduction to a nice (though not particularly original) promised horror story, the complete rest was almost composed only of the kit for 08/15-horror radio plays. A perfect idea unfortunately poor vampire story without significant turns, but with all that around the undead bloodsuckers to offer the stereotype box ... If you have unfortunately seen everything already thousand times, heard or read. Really a pity !!!
Spoiler! The fact that the hero of the story is a certain "Bram Stoker", which is threatened by a dangerous adversary called "Dracula", a smart approach would perhaps still somehow been, but no one uses this unfortunately. Hero and villain could carry any name, it would make no difference at all ...

What a disappointment ... After one has yet tried the first part to be original and innovative, the author returns in part 2 now straight back to his John Sinclair roots. Just why? !!

Plus points are definitely for the high-quality technical implementation, as well as the excellent speakers who do a great job here! Above all, Dietmar miracle and Udo Schenk are again top notch in the leading roles, and Joachim Kerzel as narrator! On these points, everything was done right here again, but this does not help unfortunately enhance the weak rest.

Conclusion: Fans of John Sinclair and typical vampire stories will certainly get their money in the second part of "The Border". Who, however, again a slightly different horror radio play with fresh ideas or just a direct continuation of the first part "The road to hell" hopes, should definitely leave it alone ...
