The special thing about Ben Howard is that he seems to be a very authentic musician who not only writes lyrics and melodies composed, because it can and loves, but which they (perhaps unwittingly?) Used for self-therapy to deal with his partially Moody experiences, thoughts and feelings to grapple to process this. Sometimes you just want him just press and say: Hey, I know or Yes, I can relate, I have been there too.
It is impressive to see how Ben Howard presents his own songs again and again in slightly different versions. It so happens that I have before publication of the new album some songs heard in 3 or 4 sockets and I each have my personal favorite version for me.
And now it's here: the official disc - and in my mind all these versions swirling around and make me nervous.
If you like the charm and atmosphere of British landscapes, culture and films, which takes place in Ben Howard's music about the same emotions again - a perfect blend of detective streets and sun-flooded living rooms of ancient mansions. Autumn colored leaves or green moss on steep seashores, rough sea and the storm despite gulls. Salt air, a pub on the corner and the smell of a Baileys Coffee.
The album is beautifully coherent. There's just not a song that does not like.
I constantly try to somehow create a favorites list, but then I realize that from 10 songs argue 8 to the 1st place - so let's leave that.
Nevertheless, stands a song because of its lyrical acoustic drama in particular:
All is now Harmed
Who knows what it's like when the music inside pages so much delight for the that one's heart literally wants to jump out of the body, because it is so wide and tall and do not know where ... has the effect All is now Harmed on my soul.
For Ben Howard I'm considering for several years turntable free life now actually back too!
Ben Howard is - since I about 3 years ago by chance discovered him - for me the musician of my life. I like "Niche Musicians", from which one does not read in the newspaper and give the little interviews that just (good) playing music and then do it again from her right to private life use. I like musicians who make music because it pushes them inside and not because they want to be famous or rich or because they are packaged to fit the mainstream taste.
I wish Ben Howard in particular, that he should preserve his individuality and continues to write such beautiful music.
