After a long search I am stuck mainly from design point of view at Philips. I personally like the current Philips Design by far the best. I furthermore but also wanted to have a very narrow scope and limited depth, came to me of 7664 and 8664 into consideration. The 8664 is then excreted, because my TV in the bedroom angle hangs on the wall and thus can not be used Ambilight makes sense. Since the 7664's otherwise identical, I then decided to go for this.
The 7664 has the rather unusual VESA 300x300 thread. Thus, unfortunately, I had to buy a new swivel wall bracket, as my old LCD VESA 200x100 hole had me. When the television was then there, the optical sight has inspired me immediately. A so narrow frame of less than 3 cm and this minimum depth of less than 4cm just looks great. After commissioning, the image could directly convince significantly vs. my old HD Ready LCD. However, I am of the opinion that other producers in the same price range offer a similarly good picture quality.
What the 7664, however, stands out from the mass of other television on the one hand the fact that it pretty much happens via USB all file formats in the video section, which gives it so. divx course included. Moreover NetTV is a really nice touch. Quick connected to the DSL router can look in this way is very convenient Youtube videos on 40 "TV-optimized versions of image, world football and Co read, watch movie trailers, and much more. In addition, you can through the built-in browser and just about any View other websites. For non NetTV optimized pages but that is of course without a mouse and keyboard limited.
Clearly suboptimal, the internal speaker. This clearly shows the problem of ever thinner TVs. The 7664 has only about 40% of the depth of a normal conventional LCD this time. This then is also reflected in the sound quality. But that's something that can not solve any manufacturer really satisfactory. Missing depth of a television set is always going to set the tone.
All in all, the television has exactly met my expectations at this rather high-priced equipment and I am very happy with my choice.
