Live in London (Audio CD)

Customer Review

The ex-Dire Straits bassist John Illsley sets here with a well-rehearsed band a decent live album before, which comes in the tradition of his former band.

So, or something like the Dire Straits might have belonged in their early days in small British clubs.
John Illsley itself is vocally also right next to his old buddy Mark Knopfler (especially I feel that at his own pieces).

The existing total of 15 songs tracklist of the album is to a large extent from real Dire Straits classics, Illsley some pieces and with "Another Brick in the Wall" and "First We Take Manhattan" of two great cover versions of Pink Floyd and Leonard Cohen.
The six pieces that can be heard and I like them very well come from his two solo albums "Streets of Heaven" and "testing the water" to all; especially me also very positive recall of style and stylistics Good old Dire Straits Times.

The band plays loose and apparently together with the fun of it and the way the sound of the CD is also excellent.

So if you fancy a quasi Dire Straits-deja vu has, which is in good hands with John Illsley "Live in London"!
