added - slightly cynical start with my title. but we are honest. that was a troop consisting of the songwriter, guitarist + vocalist Mark Knopfler. and a few other musicians, of course. Yep, now runs all under his name + he still has supporters. the songs have gotten better. must confess some songs of Dire Straits (especially on "Love Over Gold") are too long for me. because good song ideas were ausgewaelzt on x-minutes + at some point it gets bored. Here are the songs short & crisp and just as well produced as you know from the previous discs. By the way, this is not his first solo album. before there was at least two soundtracks. the better known "Local Hero" and not sooo known "Cal". but it is his first regular studio album. I do not know why, but I got the part forever and always heard. so good that even so far two subsequent discs, for me, the part is here unmatched. the entry with "Darling Pretty" already the total blast. then bubbled as "Don`t you get it", or even "Ruediger". the latter a strange title, but why not ?! so what !! the mix fits, there are intelligent mainstream rock songs on it, a little bit country and blues is attending. What has me then particularly impressed - I saw him a few times live (TV) seen + this arrogant, unterkuehlte kind of bugged him scary. according to this disc I dared for the first time in a live concert. He came on stage wearing jeans and plaid shirt. a broad grin on his face. no trace of the earlier posturing. as well what must have happened ... So people before their discs Brian Adams or anything else buys. the part you like here certainly more.
