Trying to evaluate something to the exterior without it: Back and frame are held in a brownish-metallic copper-tone, which is not really in the photos out. Some find it ugly, others just good. To me it makes a little stale impression but there goes well with my organization and I wanted it. The tablet should just lie on my living room table to steady disposal.
Pluses:
- Long battery life: On the way my wife had (of the tablet also like) 4 Hours through the mobile Wi-Fi hotspot (my HTC Desire) surfed, called the navigation, use Facebook etc. The battery was then at full screen brightness yet at 46%.
- Operation: Android 3 "Honeycomb" now does not differ very soo from 2.3 (I know from my phone). Here, as since everything runs smoothly and intuitively.
- Features:
Micro-SD, HDMI, because the iPad can learn a lot. USB's way, contrary to the opinion of another Rezensienten also, but you have to buy an adapter, then you can connect eg his external hard drive. Have not even tried, but there's an offer here at Amazon. Otherwise, the tablet over a propriäteren connection (including proprietary cable) takes the PC to connect and seems necessary as an external memory, so no sync on software. Too bad that one over USB but can not load it's probably to the weak charge current (500mA) USB nunmal can only provide.
- Apps: I find this app offer good, but am not a gambler. Write a few Rezensienten that apps that are actually intended for mobile phones "terrible" look. OK, sometimes the buttons are small but that bothers me a little. Since times one look in the RIM world how sparse the offer as is (although the devices are also good). I think it will soon be more HD apps.
Minuses:
A real big drawback there is not in my view, the imperfections, which I enumerate here would not keep me from buying the device again.
- Speakers: no one has so far complained but personally I find it too quiet. My colleague has snatched a sample copy of the "playbooks" of RIM, which is twice too loud and has in a smaller housing with better sound (more lows).
Addendum 16.06.2011: According to some entries in the xda-developers forum, the speakers are quiet until after the update to Android 3.1. There is a "hack", which is to correct this, but I did not try.
- Reflections: The "Gorilla Glass" reflects strong. I'll buy me a film, let's see if that helps. Compared to an iPad the screen White appears somewhat bluish.
- External use: Due to the mirrors, the contrast is weak outside. Yesterday while waiting for the train, I had to hold the tablet so that no sky is visible. Then I was able to read the text (Kindle software) so precisely. The sky was cloudy. Inside you have no problems.
Conclusion: For me, there are no alternative.
I also ordered the docking keyboard. If it delivers what it promises, my a device that is in terms of performance than most netbooks receives.
