For the love of an Island (Paperback)

Customer Review

This introductory novel heroine a young Breton born shortly after the end of World War II, on a small island exposed to the full force of ocean moods.

The island and the ocean are the object descriptions beautiful, very lively and evocative, and are full-fledged characters in the novel. In this harsh and beautiful setting, people are presented unvarnished. Their behavior is the same as anywhere else, where the shadow areas usually lag suddenly express thanks to particuières circumstances. However, this somewhat faltering humanity also has some bright characters.

The first part of the book after the first chapter that makes office prologue, is written in the first person: the heroine recalls the circumstances in which it is out of adolescence to enter adulthood. The rest of the book is in the third person. I found this interesting change of perspective.

The narrative is taking, with a suspense that installs without seeming but is growing thereafter. The story is one that still accompany the drive once the book is finished. And besides, it makes you want to go see one of these small islands battered by the winds and raging waves

This book seems to have an autobiographical component. Indeed, some of its elements are found in the Notes on the author.
