The reputation of this book before it, it embodies the model of work "orientalist" fought by the Muslim scholars, and generally rejected by public opinion. This is because, the book presents the many facets of the preaching of Muhammad (or Mohammed to retain the Latin form), more exhilarating to darker. The sources are excellent, and the general thesis of the author very reasonable. With one exception though, I think the theory psychanalytiquo / Mystic advanced to explain the purpose of the "prophet". On this particular point, claiming to assimilate phenomenon prophetic and mystical phenomenon (the first being more or less degeneration of the second), the argument is quite insufficient. An essential book for anyone interested in a critical view of the preaching muhamaddienne (so self-satisfied Muslims refrain)
