Now to the actual album: Yes, this album does not sound exactly like Californication, it does not sound exactly like Stadium Arcadium. But: You can easily see that here are the Chilis at work, and that is what counts. The songs groove, are stubborn and stand out from the uniform gray of today's pop and rock music. The melodies and rhythms in the verses (especially of Flea's bass) are surprisingly and refreshingly new look. It never comes the feeling of "I've yet heard umpteen times".
Frusciante's guitar, I do not miss, I also like the new cast, different but good. Incidentally, the solos, in which guitarists can distinguish most were already in Frusciante's nothing really breathtaking. Now this is still so, but in no way interfere, as well insert the solos in the character of the songs.
Whether for me on this album like a great song like Scar Tissue, Under the Bridge or Californication is, it is too early to say after a short listening time. Some songs but definitely the potential.
My favorites on the disc:
-factory Of Faith (Mid-speed number with super bass line, class guitar rhythms / -licks and very felicitous chorus)
-Brendan 'S Death Song (class ballad with moving melody and super chorus)
-Annie Wants a baby (varied, wonderful licks and melodies)
-Look Around (Mid Speed number with great rhythms and melodies, very varied, feel-good song with the right groove)
-The Adventures Of Rain Dance Maggie (though yes, I find the single release very successful, the chorus uses a familiar basic melody, but knows how to please anyway; the stanza with alternate use of guitarist and singer is great)
-Even You Brutus? (Verses with rap bonds, very interesting and unusual of the chillies, beautiful transition from chanting the melody)
-Meet Me At The Corner (Easily digestible ballad, absolutely typical Chilis style, wonderful guitar solos)
The remaining 7 songs are perfectly acceptable and not bad, they are not closer to the quality of the aforementioned songs. One may, however, call to mind at this point that there will probably never be an album in which significantly more than 50% of the songs are really good. Stadium Arcadium also provides no more than 4-5 earwigs. Considering then, how long no rock / indie / pop album with the quality of I'm With You has come out (1 year minimum), this album definitely deserves 5 stars. It will get a place in the sun in my CD collection and are lasered regularly to stay young. It's probably not the best album of all time, but among the eternal Top 100 it definitely deserves a spot.
Finally, again to all who are disappointed: Give no hasty judgments on and let yourself a on the album, trying to understand it. Not always ignites a tune at the first time listen!
