Firstly this book describes the loneliness and alienation of man in a community. Here the hero "Joe Farnwright" specialist in ceramic repair is an ordinary man crushed by the system and who is unemployed with all that that entails.
Then this novel highlights hope. Joe is indeed contacted by an alien who recognizes his talent and hired him to repair with others coming from different worlds, a buried cathedral at the bottom of the ocean on a distant planet.
Finally without revealing the rest of the book, "The cathedrals Healer" shows us how this man can sublimate.
This excellent gripping story from beginning to end shows Dick's exceptional talent who can both entertain us and make us think.
A reading for all lovers of Science Fiction but also for those unfamiliar gender.
