But let's not wait for my impressions of the game.
# Place in the saga:
After Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine, Super Mario Galaxy takes the ingredients of its venerable predecessors in 3D and takes the concept a step further.
Here, Nintendo offers us a galactic adventure to explore mini-planets (so Little Prince).
# Gameplay:
Given its galactic dimension, platformer gameplay revolves around the concept of gravity.
Jump from planet to planet, running upside down on planetoids is a fairly novel experience that actually brings a new dimension to gaming platforms.
Also to emphasize the quality of design-level, particularly inventive and perfectly mastered.
The grip on the Wii Remote and Nunchuck is simply impeccable, and there is reason to regret compatibility with a Classic Controller.
Indeed, the camera moves mostly (and automatically) to the right place. So the lack of a second stick is not really embarrassing.
Otherwise, the control system is quite similar to what we had known about Mario 64 and Mario Sunshine - with some new specific moves to the Wiimote and some unreleased transformations. The insider will be on familiar ground.
Note the absence of Yoshi, which will come back only in the following: Super Mario Galaxy 2.
# Lifetime / difficulty:
For me, 48 hours to recover the 120 stars of the game and try a few levels with Luigi.
At present, it is more than respectable.
The difficulty is rather well dosed, a generally higher level New Super Mario Bros. Wii.
Beat the game straight does not require much effort, but recover the 120 stars is already more complicated ..
especially with regard to a twenty of them located in fairly difficult levels.
# Implementation / atmosphere:
The realization is sumptuous, with graphics that delight the retina - even on Wii.
Certainly, we are not at a Little Big Planet - in particular textures -
but these rondouillets characters who wander through a colorful, keep a certain charm - I would almost say "disneyien".
The soundtrack, performed by a symphony orchestra, just among the best ever proposed for a Nintendo game.
It found new cosmic themes as well as rearrangements of classic themes.
# Conclusion:
Super Mario Galaxy is probably part of the original and the most successful games on the Wii.
A sure thing that will be remembered even after the release of 2nd component in 2011. ^^
