1. In the 10 inch version of the Archos G9 display the error does not occur. Good and important for everyone who likes to watch movies.
2. The reason why I have finally decided on the 8 inch version, is quite profane size. Before I held both tablets in my hands, I was not sure what form factor the better. After extensive Try the 8 inch tablet was the clear winner. For comfortable reading, surfing and from time to time a series, the size, the weight and comfort in positioning is perfect. In contrast, the 10-inch tablet has a massive and bulky. It's not fun to read it, just look at the films has the larger display advantages. Add to this the mediocre design that does not fall in my opinion, the 8-inch display so much weight. This refers especially the really thick plastic edges on the left and right of the display. Even acts against other 10 incher the Archos 101 G9 huge and plump.
3. Instead of 4 stars with the 8-inch model, I can give only 3 stars the 10-inch version. The performance is good, 3G stick and stand are super idea. But the design, weight and technical data can the Archos 101 slipping into mediocrity. A reason to buy is for those who have quite clearly the price and the unit of interest, who want to wait for the future development of the tablets and wish a solid transition device.
and here again my 4-star rating for the small version:
Finally a tablet with 8-inch display, but. , ,
, , .man must also notice that the Archos G9 clearly comes about the price. The general technical data are at the top, a listing is here therefore not necessary, but a brief review of the most important. The 512MB RAM to be addressed by many as a major weakness of the tablet. I test the Archos now for 1,5 weeks, and despite the lower RAM, it is in my opinion perfect for everyday use. I read, surf, play games, use different media libraries without problems and long delays.
The clear strength of the Archos G9 is the size of the display. The 8 inches are ideal for reading, it is not too heavy in the hand like 10 inch tablets and the font is shown sufficiently large. The display itself is, except for the waves, and the good point of view large enough to allow now also position change while reading.
Overall, the Archos is a good Tablet and for many potential customers are probably the special features that the Archos, in addition to price, also apart from the competition, encourage them to purchase. This includes in any case the rare 8-inch display, low upgrade the version using a USB stick on 3G, or integrated pedestal.
Advantages / disadvantages summarized:
+ Current technology and liquid software (to update) at a reasonable price
+ The Display Size
+ Extras like USB 3G stick and an integrated stand
- Wave in the display (to be resolved)
- Plastic case seems quite prone to scratches
- Between display and case small gap (could be the irritating dust collector)
Finally, a few important issues and why you may still should wait with the purchase:
- Gets the Archos 80 G9 an update to Android Ice Cream Sandwich?
- If the display error be corrected with the next equipment? (When reading it would be no problem with the film look very)
- Should we wait for the 1.2 and 1.5 GHz Turbo versions? Weigh here would charge vs. Performance increase
All in all I am satisfied with what Archos with its new tablet generation serving here. The price is right, finally you get even a 8 inch display and low-priced 3G. Compromises you have to accept in the processing and design for it.
For those who might still want to wait for the future development of the tablets, the Archos 80 G9 is a good transition device. It does not cost too much and is on the cutting edge.
