Sirenia are back with new material. A small fine MCD, and yet not just a rehash of old songs. The very first song seems probably the most apt for Sirenia to be yourself, it ultimately describes the theme of the sirens of Greek mythology, which also gave the name of the band with the fantastic singer. And the title track opens up the MCD, with the usual powerful blend of heavy guitars and Henriette Bordviks delicate voice. "Save Me From Myself" is an electronic and gentler version of the original from the second Sirenia album. But not only Henriette may collect on this MCD their tuners with "Meridian" is also the beautiful acoustic version of this song from the first album on MCD nor sung by Fabienne Gondamin. Track number four is likely to be some known, but it is a cover of Leonard Cohen's "First We Take Manhattan" and next "Sirenian Shores" the highlight of the album. Singer is here Emanuelle Zoldan, actually a lady from the choir, but specially selected for this song as a singer. Anyone who knows the original, will have his joy of comparison because SIRENIA version is more dynamic than Cohen's version, and yet it is not distorted because Kristian Gundersens voice is the mood of the original very well again. Is Abegschlossen this MCD with a typical Sirenia song with Latin Chorus. All in all, every song itself something special, will be found on no Sirenia album seinund trumps especially to a successful new track and a brilliant cover song. Highly recommended!
