1. bootable USB stick with Windows 7 32 bit to prepare: First of all, you need the disk image X17-59886.ISO, which is the 32-bit version of Service Pack 1 incl Can you legally download and Googling.. (The serial number for your netbook is located on the bottom of page). Then burn the "Windows 7 USB / DVD Download Tool" from Microsoft's image on USB stick. Then in the "Sources" on the USB stick EI.cfg delete the file. This is important so that when you install the correct version of Windows (Windows Starter) can be selected. Note: In principle, run on the netbook and all other versions, in that it has an Upgrade Key could be interesting. There is virtually no performance differences. In addition can be started fashion, which contributes to the fact that you no longer need to reboot to switch the graphics chip from the Home Premium of Optimus.
2. Download all required drivers from the ASUS page that goes quite well, because you get to see all existing drivers when entering the model.
Caution is advised in the SATA drivers. After installing the automatic updates no longer work possibly.. So best dispense with the SATA driver from the ASUS page and take the Windows own. You can read down the latest drivers for the ION chip from NVIDIA site. Works just fine and is later for the Optimus mode useful. The driver is newer than the ASUS on the page. (Recommended)
3. Delete disk completely and newly set up: In my approach, there will be no later recovery partition, but a Windows partition repair. What I personally find better. If you have saved on a flash drive recovery you can also back this secure again. Restore Resche partition is generally also possible, but brings my opinion not really what, as you can boot from the flash drive anyway and so the original installation is quick available again. Because of a possible hard drive failure, it is generally advisable in any case the Rescue partition to secure.
Windows from USB boot stick and call the repair options when receiving screen. then enter the console and start "diskpart". When the program is started "diskpart"
Enter "List Disk". There are therefore the existing plates typically displayed USB flash drive and hard drive. Then "select disk 0" on the plate. then enter "clean". The board is now completely deleted. Attention! starts the command without prompting.
4. Install Windows. During installation you get notified that another partition for Bootmananger and emergency options is applied. Confirm with OK. Select partition size for the Windows installation manually. 80-100GB. Do not eat the whole plate because we need space for the EFI partition later. After the Windows driver installation and a console window is opened on Windows "diskpart" started and created by "select disk 0", a new primary partition with "create partition primary". Here, the remaining space will be fully applied as 3rd partition. Now we switch to the Windows Disk Utility and shrink this partition to 16MB at the beginning or the end, it does not matter. Subsequently, the partition must be formatted and get a Laufwerksbiuchstaben. "Select disk 0" Enter Now go back to the console window and "diskpart" afterwards.. Now "create partition primary id = ef" Enter. Thus a primary EFI partition is created in the last open area, which is also then not formatted. You will then see in Explorer only C and D as a partition. The EFI partition is needed to complete the Boot Booster and Express Gate. Note: there can be only max. Create 4 primary partitions. These are now used as described here.
5. Express Gate installation: When you install Express Gate only the two are to unpack files and start the setup. The installation then runs automatically without further intervention. If you hatbt created in the previous step, the EFI partition, you can continue with the Express Gate button above ESC start. The archive can you from the ASUS driver download page for your model. The boat Problem: After the installation is usually all the same as before. In rare cases it can happen that the computer only boots up with Express Gate, then the boot sector needs to be rewritten. Press F8 at start up and call the repair options. Then start the console and entering the following commands:
"Bootrec / fixmbr"
"Bootrec / fixboot"
After restarting, the problem should be solved.
