I admit that I was a little generous in Ronan's past albums with the reviews because I was just happy that there ever was something new from him. Actually, it was clear to me that he can do so much more than you would expect when listening to a cover album - and finally he shows the back. "Fires" is by far the best album since Ronan's Turn It On and does not contain a bit of 'filler'. The mix of ballads and mostly faster, rocking numbers is absolutely first class. But all the best on this album is Ronan's voice that takes a whole new dimension and has first left me speechless - particularly on "I've Got You", "Oxygen" and "The One You Love".
The bonus tracks on the Special Edition of Fires are also worth buying, even if they are only available as mp3. "It's Alright" is the soundtrack of the film "Goddess" in which Ronan plays his first starring role, and has unique catchy quality.
Although it took quite a long time ... Ronan is about to catapult an artist to a whole new level. I can not imagine that anyone could be disappointed with this album me.
