It is the year 1997. Queen Victoria reigns now 160 years.
In his alternative, historical scenario Queen Victoria reigns for 160 years of the British Empire. Bobby robots, dinosaurs, dandies, spies, pretty women, airships and more line the story has to tell the Green.
The main characters of the novel are Ulysses Quicksilver and his personal servant Nimrod. Ulysses is a typical dandy, the manner in His Majesty's Service is in James Bond.
The book begins with Ulysses, reappears after a 1-year trip to London, and just can prevent his brother Bartholomew can be explained in dead.
Shortly thereafter, he is appointed by the Prime Minister to investigate a murder at a museum. Then roll over the events and a truly stirring adventure begins.
Conclusion:
At the beginning of "Unnatural History" was really tough to read, and I have put it more than once for other books aside. But the story takes the burglary and murder in the museum rapidly to gain momentum, and will surprise you with some interesting twists.
Towards the end, I must confess, I was just blown away. Jonathan Green has me on the heel. Little by little I'm going to do to the other novels in the series.
