This external hard drive enclosure has been put to me by the company Avantek available for testing. Although I have several hard drives that still partly derived from older computers and notebooks, but I'm having external hard drive enclosures less familiar. I had until now only a relatively old enclosure for 3.5 inch hard drives. My hard drives the size of 2.5 inches and 3.5 inches, I have always operated on a hard drive docking station. If you want, however, operated a separate 2.5-inch hard drive for an external enclosure should be considered. In addition, a boxed hard drive can considerably safe transport. The external hard drive enclosure is well protected from Avantek delivered in a cardboard box. The board is similar to the frustration outdoors packing Amazon. Who had ever torn at a sharp hard plastic packaging fingers, knows the frustration-free packaging is greatly appreciated. In addition, the packaging is made of 100% paper and can be disposed environmentally friendly than the paper. Inside the package there is the case, a USB 3.0 cable, and an instruction manual and a warranty card. The enclosure is suitable for 2.5-inch SATA hard drives with a height of 7 mm and 9.5 mm. The installation is very easy. One only needs to slide the cover backwards and then insert the hard drive. For hard drives with a height of 7mm one must also use an upholstery that is also in the scope of supply. Now the external hard drive can be connected using the supplied USB cable to the computer. I run the drive in Windows 8.1 64-bit and it was automatically detected. A driver does not have to be installed. The external hard drive is fast and reliable. The case is very well made and visually makes a very high-quality impression. The top and bottom are made of a high-gloss plastic in piano lacquer finish, the edge of aluminum. All in all I liked the external housing very well.
