Brittany Howard, Heath Fogg, Zac Cockrell and Steve Johnson, the band members of "Alabama Shakes". Since they have released an EP last September, some of their songs have been half a million clicks on youtube times. I can understand it. Now finally released the debut album -Boys & Girls- and I dare say: There's something coming towards us!
The CD falls from moderate level in nothing. For me the song is still on- -hold. Quiet, bluesy, played lasciviously awesome, and supported by this incredible voice, the piece has an almost hypnotic effect on me. -You Is not alone is a ballad that could have come from Aretha Franklin. Completely different, from rock to pop, -I found you- pounding out of the speakers. A journey through time free there at -Be mineral. The piece could be right out of the seventies and is supported by a wonderful guitar riff. -hang Loose- is a southern blues at its best, the best is somewhat reminiscent of CCR times. -Rise To the Sun comes Motown punk therefore. Purist, earthy and just beautiful sounds the titular piece -Boys & Girls-.
The "Alabama Shakes' is creating new music in an old-school garment on the CD and on stage to project. Live, the band is incredibly close and personal with the quality of the studio recording. The pure essence of rock and blues flows from almost any of their songs. The central focus of the shots is the Wahnsinsstimme of Brittany Howard. If they can just a little bit excited about Blues to a song like -hold on- them will not go out of my head.
Enough raved. The "Alabama Shakes' are my ultimate tip for you. In the States the band with great strides goes up, I prophesy again that they are also here, with a bit of luck, will go through the roof. Sometimes we need just a little longer; which could also be observed at the -Black keys-. I look forward in any case to the "Alabama Shakes" and I've saved for the end of April before tickets. The Magnet Club in Berlin is already sold. Presumably other music fans have noticed: Something comes up to us ...
... And now (exactly one hour after the concert), I assume that no one was there, this evening will be forgotten!
