BOXED
was my first OLDFIELD-purchase, sometime as 76 or 77. 4 LPs included the Box: Tubular Bells, Hergest Ridge, Ommadawn and collaboration, then the days of the so-called oil crisis on paper-based thin vinyl. What I did not understand for a long time was the fact that the disks contained by the master REMIXED were themselves, and this at a time because 1. the originals just a few years old (young) were and 2. the term REMIX in fact did not exist. If you like, OLDFIELD was so if not the pioneer of Remixings.

THE ORIGINAL PLATES
I never had, accordingly, no comparisons. I later had a very long time a lot of problems with Maxis, dance remixes and Special Editions. I have just come from an era when a song has received exactly one (published) Mix. The stand then hardly conceivable for eternity, from today's perspective. Or you can imagine a new mix by Locomotive, SMOKE, or even STAIRWAY?

WITH TIME
has changed all that. Trends come and trends went. Remixes were betimes popular than the actual mix. What tells us all about the tubular beats in 2013? Yes, all remixed, reboxed, remade. You can love or hate something or-ignore. Personally, I find the production soundwise sublimely WOW, some interesting variation of one or another classic. I find particularly interesting example LET THERE BE LIGHT, GUILTY or Ommadawn, but actually no one can reduce a 20-minute classics to 7 minutes, or do you? The Endpart to the original dominant AFRICAN DRUMS I miss here also. Especially bad like me against Moonlightshadow and TO FRANCE-much too fast, much too hectic, broken-mixed. Even the last, declared as a new piece of snippets of what is to come soon, sounds like well-kept long while, no matter who is singing.

EARLY
were the contents, the compositions of some very good, if not sublime and the sound well. Today, it seems often to be exact ungekehrt: again and again perfectly produced, inflated NOTHING!

REMIX & CO
I go even further: From today's perspective, with today's experience I say that it is simply not the definitive mix. As a sound engineer. I know even what you can magic up in the studio, and yes, if you're not super disciplined goes to work, you like to lose yourself in time shenanigans.

GADGETS
are not here in any case, but why? If the child plays, it's healthy, and is definitely a OLDFIELD (such) Child (left). Nobody needs this game-drive, but it just sounds good and shows what at times the MP3 craze is the medium CD even technically possible.

OF COURSE
I am a OLDFIELD-Maniac. But that does not mean that I have good, horny find everything this former Mega Brain springs, awesome. So here, too: With ingenuity that has only peripherally to do here. This is partly due to this I completely unknown YORK. No idea what is said to have made there, and it's me actually care less. I like this new production, she has neatly oomph, united well-known old themes with new rhythms and presents itself sometimes extremly bored. Before, I would have thought of desecration and blasphemy, today I grin just stupid.

WHAT
so I can say this conclusion? New OLDFIELD-ok NEW? -hm ... FEEL I COULD DANCE-ahahaha ... Well, I can live with this excellent. I expect the old OLDFIELD just nothing great news anymore, what a shame ...

EVALUATION
COMPOSITIONS
4 stars (the originals of course earn all 5 stars. Because here but NEW, not necessarily BETTER was done partly, I have to deduct a star, unfortunately.)
ARRANGEMENTS
4 stars (differently / experimentally fearless / bold, dangerous / suicidal)
PERFORMANCE
4 stars (How am I supposed at a largely computerized production judge instrumental / vocal CAN musicians? Because I can only hold on to what is left of the original performances.)
EXPERIMENTS / INNOVATIONS
5 stars (An RMX album like this always splits the minds. Where does the original / remix on, where does the acoustic devaluation / Desecration / Mutilation? Well, me personally I like very well here.)
PRODUCTION / SOUND
5 Stars (CD vs. LP vs. MP3 vs. Smartphone an endless and ultimately meaningless discussion. These little plastic disc here sounds unexpectedly dynamic / clear / loud, good, right investment required.)
COVER
2 stars (Well, which one is to say / write great?)
TOTAL
(24: 6 =) smooth 4 stars

ADDENDUM
A new Ommadawn or INCANTATIONS or AMAROK would of course the super-hit. If there's one person in this world that something perhaps could afford, it's himself undoubtedly Mr.OLDFIELD. The guy is just crazy and indeed in a positive sense. Happy Birthday, Mike!
