Right at the beginning suggests the gloomy intro "Mars within" difficult and leads into the single "Abduction". In the style of fast Maiden - kept numbers and equipped with a majestic chorus creates Dickinson there with this song immediately, to captivate the listener. The eingängiste song a very good record.
The surprisingly aggressive guitar sound of Roy Z finds its most extreme expression in the deserts "Soul Intruders". A quick double bass prescht paired with a hard riff powerfully forward and discharges in the melodic chorus. Also a strong point, which are also on the "Chemical Wedding" - would have fit her album.
Not quite as hard as it is with the heavy midtempo - anthem "Kill Devil Hill" on. The majestic goosebumps - Chorus is accompanied by a bombastic organ theme and created a scary - beautiful goose bumps. A very touching piece of music, and certainly one of the best tracks from the pen of the Englishman.
From the superlatives one does not come out with "Navigate the Seas of the Sun". For me it has showed the true greatness of this piece took a while to be, but after the spark has jumped it belongs in my opinion definitely on a par with great ballads like "Tears of the Dragon" or "Man of Sorrows". An impressive peace and a dreamy sound image characteristics of this stroke of genius. Correct stirring it towards the end, as Bruce sings a duet with herself.
The lyrics on "Tyranny of Souls" are elusive. They move in a mystically transfigured, sometimes very gloomy frame and broach always in their own way the album title.
So also "River of No Return". A mid-tempo - song that now is not necessarily knocks me, but definitely be described as solid composition.
The overall picture something goes down, the second faster "Power of the Sun", which suits me very personally. A chorus in the style faster Maiden - Kracher a la "Rainmaker" or "Different World".
Know most of the songs on the CD are held in mid-tempo, as well as "Devil on a Hog" to convince the rich reef and gripping Hook.
The most progressive and at the same darkest piece called "Believil" and creates a swirling Black Sabbath - mood. The gruesome text fits perfectly into the overall context transfigured.
After 9 strong titles without sacrificing quality, the Komponistenduo Bruce Dickinson and Roy Z swings open one last time to his best with the final title track "Tyranny of Souls". The successful Macbeath - Cross-reference in the first Strofe serves the demonic number than perfect start and opens into another goose bumps - Refrain. A touching Abschlussong, which compresses all strengths of the album to just under 6 minutes of playing time: Satte riffs, big hooks, gloom. For me this is definitely the outstanding tracks on the album.
Bruce Dickinson has released solo works of varying quality. Some pointed to quite lengths at other lacked the big hooks or riffs, but "Tyranny of Souls" acts in the overall comparison as the best ever and most mature album of the legendary singer.
Compared to the last Iron Maiden - works, among the many part to progressive guitar work of Messrs Smith, Harris and Gers time let their songs properly gripping elements are missing and very degenerated, conjures singer Dickinson with "Tyranny of Souls" is a compact, filigree work of art. The direct, dry sound and the rather simple, but more catchy arrangements show the entire compositional class of absolutely exceptional talent of the scene. This disturbs the somewhat scarcely measured Time of 44 minutes is not decisive.
When a Dickinson - needs album, then this.
